It's the Skrull Pym that was shown using medication though... just as it was the skrull pym shown seeing a psychiatist. That's the funny part about it.

As for Spider-Man... I think the more important lesson is for MJ to be aware enough not to sneak up on someone in the middle of a fight.

There is always a possibility that the Skrull Pym was going to the Psychiatrist and using medication Because Pym was doing that before the replacement

we get it, he hit her. monty christo and x pac. we get it. you have now said it in about 12 threads over the past few months. at least they didnt retcon it with the skrull like dan slott said alot of big marvel writers wanted.
no, you don't get it. you guys never get it. i've never started a "Pym's a wifebeater" thread. i only post in response to defense of him being a wifebeater. it's always the same. "Pym's such a great character. it's so unfair that writers keep bringing up him hitting Jan while he was having a mental breakdown. he only did it once. Why aren't Reed and Spiderman considered wifebeaters. he was having a mental breakdown." you guys haven't changed your tune. why should i? why not try something different; fully embrace that Hank beat Jan, admit that he's a screwed up individual, that he has a long way to go to gain redemption, but is still a great character w/ story potential? think you can manage that?

just imagine if i continually tried to excuse Ant-Man for running out on the mother of his child. it would get annoying. Eric's a dirtbag and a coward. he's also a pervert who doesn't respect women or the privacy of others. he's a habitual liar. he stabbed his best friend, a completely innocent guy, in the back. he has taken advantage of almost everyone he's come into contact with. i love him as a character. he's the kind of character that can go either way in any given situation. i appreciate the unpredictability; the contrast to the norm. see, it's not so hard. and as good of a guy that Dan Slott is, i don't think he has a clue about making Pym legitimate. all he's done so far is make Pym look good at the expense of his betters (Stark and Richards). he's attacking a non-existant problem. making Pym seem really really smart won't do jack about him having beaten up Jan. i'm just repeating what i said a year or so back but why not just show Hank donating time or money to an abuse shelter? show a flashback of him watching his dad beat his mom. enroll him in an anger management class. duhhh!

I never really cared about Hank until the current Mighty Avengers run. WOW! He's quickly moving up in importance in the MU in my eyes whereas I always saw him as just "that other founding Avenger" in the past. Congrats to the current team for making me enjoy Doctor Pym (although I still prefer his look from right before Heroes Reborn for some reason)

Although not a huge Pym fan, I do enjoy him a good bit. Something about him just makes him so dang lovable/relatable. I do hate that people have such a negative opinion of him because of accidentally creating Ultron and when he struck Jan.

I just don't see how the negative things he's done are more important than all of the positive, least of all helping found the Avengers.

Truthfully... I think the negatives are more important than the positives, because in general they are the things which made the character interesting.

Take away Ultron and slapping Jan, and he's a somewhat generic hero to had a fascination for dressing up like a bug.

Oh don't get me wrong. I think they were great in humanizing Pym, and all that jazz. I definitely like how it wasn't retconned and he was allowed to wallow in that sortof self-pity. All I was disagreeing with are those people, who claim that Pym is a worthless and despicable character because of those two acts. Y'know like he automatically gets a bad rep for it which turns off a lot of new readers from looking more into his character.

I don't actually recall the incident... but if MJ did sneak up on Peter while he was fighting someone, then I kind of buy that as an excuse. If you go up to someone while they're in a middle of a fight, expect to get hit. It's not necessarily anything personal... that's just something that could happen.

Again, I don't actually recall that incident so I can't really give an educated view.
For the record, this is what happened.

Peter and Ben reily were working together on a variety of tests to see which one of them was the clone. At the time there was no villain around or anything. Just them, MJ, and Steward Trainer.

After looking at the results, Ben gets all quite and basicalyl goes, "I'm really sorry. i don't know how to tell you this, but you're the clone, Peter. I'm the real one."

Then Peter goes apeshit. The lunges right at Ben and starts beating the crap out of the guy screaming about how Ben is lying to him and manipulating him and all sorts of things like that.

Ben's tries, (between punches to the face) to tell Peter he has to own up to this and face facts. Ben is really the one that's been cheated out of five years of his life. He's the real victim here.

After Peter pins down Ben and starts strangling him, MJ runs up grabs Peter by the arm screaming "STOP IT! YOU'RE KILLING HIM!"

Peter yells for her to get away and punches her across the room hard enough to crack the walls. When he realizes what he's done, he runs out leaving her there bleeding. Oh, and did I mention that MJ was pregnant at the time?

So yeah, Peter was in a fight. One that he started and MJ didn't exactly sneak up on him.

And later in the clone saga, Peter activly helped Jackal try to end all life on the planet, because his life had no meaning anymore since he was a clone.

Oh yeah, heroes' wives sneak up on them all the time while they are fighting someone. It breaks the tension.

You've got that the wrong way around. Pym fans do the same as you and respond when haters only see him as a wife-beater, which is incorrect.

Well how about . . . because it's not true? He screwed up and has mental issues, sure. As for "he has a long way to go to gain redemption", how exactly does he have a long way to go to gain redemption? Spending his time saving the world isn't good enough? Taking on an identity to honour the woman he loved isn't good enough?

So why not try something different and fully embrace the fact that Hank is actually a capable superhero, in spite of your feeble attempts to damage his reputation based on a single panel from about thirty years ago. I would've thought you'd have better things to do with your time, quite frankly.

he beat up his wife. it wasn't by accident. he wasn't being mind-controlled. he didn't do it to snap her out of a 'Malice' persona. she didn't sneak up on him. Puppetmaster wasn't involved. Immortus wasn't involved. he wasn't in shock at what he had done. he just got fed up with her and belted her in the face. then he walked right into that court martial hearing and lied to all of his friends. it was sad and pathetic. it's a damn shame that Thor or Cap didn't avenge Jan, like in the Ultimate Universe.

if you're trying to defend that wife beater Pym casting false aspersions about other characters isn't the way to do it. just makes me hate Pym even more.
Monty...Monty....Monty stop inserting yourself in Hank Pym conversations you will never be objective on this. You are blind by your love of an even bigger a-hole: the Erik O'Grady Ant-Man.

Henry Pym is also not a wife-beater. He had to be almost insane to slap Janet and it was once! And it was a stupid Shooter retcon to begin with!
Kurt Busiek Says:"Best Avengers Run, Steve Englehart's run in the 1970s. With Roy Thomas's run that preceded it close behind, and the Conway/Shooter/Michelinie run that followed close behind that

if it was then why has no one retconned the retcon?
