JMS rules. I also dropped "ASM" after he left because that was no longer the Spidey I enjoyed to read. The idea to me was that here's this nerd who was bullied in high school and he went on to have a good career and marry the woman of his dreams. That gave kids like me motivation while growing up and was something we could relate to later in life. Then they (Marvel) throw away his marriage and make him a go-nowhere-in-life loser. How is that supposed to motivate people? I don't want to relate to that character. They already had numerous other titles that featured 'this' Spidey. So yeah, I sadly dropped "ASM" after years of collecting. I'm sad to kinda see the same thing happening to JMS now on "Thor", another book I've been enjoying. Oh, well. Such is such, I suppose. Guess I'll just have to follow Joe over to DC (again, sadly).
He should've walked away with OMD on ASM.
He should have walked away.![]()
He was there? I read someone at the main DCU panel said he was unwell and unable to attend - I guess it was just that panel, though......
Maybe he was against Brand New Day. But that doesn't absolve him of Sins Past.
"Family Guy jumped the shark when i stopped getting high every time i watched it. " - Alex
Thor absolves him.
Although some people think it would have been worse, he originally wanted the 2 "kids" to have been Spidey's and not Osborn's. I don't like either idea, but the idea of having Gwen willingly sleep with Norman really sucked. Considering Bendis gets to pretty much do whatever he wants at Marvel, why did a far superior writer like JMS, imho, have to face so many editorial roadblocks?
JMS is all class. He had guts to walk away from Marvel and he did the right thing. The publishing section is going straight to hell now.
