Does anyone here possibly get the feeling that this could turn out like The Phantom Menace ? There just seem to be a lot of parallels between this flick ,and George Lucas' triumphant return with the first chapter of the prequel trilogy.
Thats immidiately what I envision when I read about the preview......god I hope we're wrong.
Well, James Cameron's last movie that actually had character in it was True Lies...which came out in 1994.
We'd like to wish EZMOHR all the best in his future....ah forget it.
This thing has been coming out for , like, ten years...... it can only end up bad.
I'm quite looking forward to it, although I didn't like Sam Worthington in terminator, but i'll get over that.
Dear god, I am so very tired of this plot.A paralyzed Marine named Jake Scully (played by Sam Worthington) exists as one of these Avatars, but things get complicated when he falls in love with a Na’vi princess (actress Zoë Saldana) and gets caught up in the conflict between the Na’vi and the human military that is consuming Pandora.
Another thing that sort've popped out at me when reading about this flick was similarity to a project that the late Micheal Turner had planned to collaborate on with Geoff Johns. EKOS, was the tale of an alien world that ended up invaded by a group of humans who ready to exploit the lush jungle planet, and the various races are forced to put aside their differences to repel the humans. Cameron's production company,Lightstorm, was at one time attached to produce a flick based on Micheal Turner's FATHOM, and a few years after that project went by the wayside I suddenly start hearing about Cameron's AVATAR, which surprisingly has a few similarities to Turner's EKOS. Although it isn't unheard of for creative peoples' ideas to run on similar tracks of each other. It just seemed a little coincidental that after working with Turner ,who no doubt showed him around Aspen Studios ,and no doubt their various projects that Cameron would come up with AVATAR.
The trailer is finally up!
Can't believe nobody's saying anything.
Absolutely FANTASTIC. It's strange, I've known next to nothing (besides it existed) about this project for the longest time, yet, at the same time, I'm giddy with excitement over it. NO idea why.
But everything looked really neat! I hope the story is just as great.
Eeeeeeeeeh... I dunno. The effects just didn't look that outstanding. Maybe I need to see it on the big screen. For some reason CGI effects tend to look cheaper to me on small trailer screens. Maybe if I did it full screen or saw it in a thearter.

I know what you mean, things always seem unfinished or that they need just a little more polish in trailers. And in many cases, it's true, trailers are showing close to but not final work.
But still, it could be 1950's stop action animation for all I care, it all still looks great and could be a cool movie. Bad special effects have never taken me out of the movie. It's the horrible stories of late... which this trailer can't really show. So I'll just assume it's a great story to go with the effects!![]()
It looks cliched and shitty. I wont be seeing this in theaters, and I could even go for free.
Everything burns...
It does look like it'll be a good movie, but from what I saw, it's nothing special, specially for something that has been overhyped as hell as "revolutionary" and "game changing".
It is probably just an excuse for Cameron to show off his new 3d cameras he developed.
I don't have 3d glasses, I wonder if the trailers are in 3d?
It looks pretty enough, but the plot seems hackeneyed and old.
It also does not help that I can't stand Sam Worthington. He's nothing but a foul mouthed brute who seems to take himself too seriously. I shudder to think that he almost became James Bond. Thankfully the producers went with Daniel Craig.
