but they don't say how much. And if there isn't a significant cost savings for the buyers I don't think "convenience" will be enough. If a comic is still going to cost $4 US and I no longer have an actual "hard copy" to hold (which makes it "real") then I don't see this getting many subscribers.
BUT...if it's a flat rate per month, or brings a copy to say $1 each, or less, then this will be great. There is stuff, I'd like to read, but not collect in my closet or shelves, and I'd pay a little for that. I wouldn't pay a lot though.
If he can get the content and at a reasonable price, then I'll be there. This is where comics have to go to survive. It's how all forms of dead tree media are going to survive.

Cape shall not kill cape. Kometa!
The price is $1 per comic guys. Old news.
I'm still excited for this new venture.
I personally would like to make inroads into the beta, so that I can play with LongBox.
Any chance of letting the CBR members into the beta program soon, Rantz?
BJ
So did anyone here get in the beta? I'm stoked for this, I bought a tablet PC just to read comics on.
The comic geek speak guys have a long webcast with Rantz that's worth checking out.
Obviously, Marvel was never going to get into this, not with trying to push DCU but it's a reasonably interesting selection otherwise. If they could get Oni, Dark Horse & IDW too things could really be happening. I guess those last two are pushing in on the itunes apps front though....
I haven't heard about any similar intiatives from DC. Anyone else know anything?
Is there a beta yet? Because I'd expect there would be an announcement hereabouts.
Neither Marvel's DCU nor iTunes apps are necessarily exclusive, though. I have my doubts about Marvel joining in because they seem big on renting over buying, but any publisher that's on iTunes is probably interested in other digital services.
FULCRUM: An ongoing fantasy saga by Niels van Eekelen, out on Kindle and Smashwords in all e-book formats!
Has anybody heard any news lately on Longbox?
Screencast of the LongBox Platform was put up this week, and can be seen here:

More news coming shortly...
I continue to be impressed by this product. I was a little thrown off by the ComicBlocks thing, but then I realized that it was another way of paying for your comics, not the only way. I'm so convinced that Longbox is the way of the future that I've nearly completely cleared my pull list, and I plan to put the money saved into the hands of the companies that have the good sense to put their comics on Longbox. Keep up the good work.
Any word on how independent creators can submit their comics to Longbox?
I'd imagine they've got bigger fish to fry trying to get Marvel and DC on board, but it would be nice to see the program encourage an even playing field.
Is there some kind of built-in voting for available issues at the pull list pages? Star ratings and number of downloads would be key.
Another thing that would be great is a recommendation list based on tags of previous downloads: "If you enjoyed reading this, we recommend..."
I wish we would get an exact date on when Longbox will be launched!!!
Rantz Hoseley on his twitter page says there will be some announcements at Long Beach Comic Con on Sunday about Longbox.
