Whoo, that was an incredible article. Thank you so much for posting this. A few things I noticed:
1) Kirkman sounds comfortable writing the characters, which will make for a better story
2) Todd sounds like he's enjoying the project...perhaps more art from him in the near future? (Please?)
3) I like Liefeld, but I have to admit I chuckled when Todd said "Hmm...shouldn't Badrock's foot be showing here?" and then explains how he fills in things like feet...
I have to admit, I certainly chuckled when I read that McFarlane was drawing in some of Liefeld's characters' feet. Liefeld is a good artist but we all know his position when it comes to drawing feet. Also, I find that after looking at these preview pages, Silvestri is the strongest with the art. All characters look good but man, Silvestri has still got it.
Somebody should ask todd how he feels about MM. Doesn't he own that character
Except nobody responding.
But Let's talk grant! have you seen the full preview yet? I saw the 5 pager online looks great, but I want to see the other 6 pages. Also, what's in the other 8 pages of the preview?
Do you think they should include some of the jam pieces they did back in the day (remember when Todd would ink pinups in the back of spawn by various image creators? or the wizard covers they did back then. how about image zero {sans Jim Lee} Will they reprint those stories in the eventual hardcover?
Will there be a black and white edition as well as color?
It would be cool but I don't think they can use the Jams with the Wildstorm characters in it. Not sure how Image Zero would fit in. That had like a Troll story by Liefeld, the Debbie Harris getting shot story by Larsen, some pinups by McFarlane. But I'd like to see a hardcover with some behind the scenes content. Apparently the Preview book features a lot of that stuff.
I think Rob Liefeld mentioned they should use the collect all their e-mails arguing with other over little details over the project. That would be funny to see.
Seconded. All the guys are really interesting personality-wise and it would be kinda cool to see how they interact. The few interviews I've seen with two or more of them are all great.
Speaking of the Image United Preview...does anyone have one? I'm assuming not, because if you were in San Diego you probably wouldn't be online, but I'd be curious to see what's in it.
Yeah, I saw the New York Times pages. Everything I've seen looks great. I actually don't know if I want to read 11 pages of the first issue; that's a lot. I don't want to know too much leading up to the first issue. I would love to see the extra stuff, though.
I'm very excited about this.
I do agree with Todd that the inked pages look better than the colored ones, though.
Hoping this Preview issue has some big, full pages samples of the inked pages. I mean, it does have extras and stuff, so there's hope.

Sounds like that old 'Comic BOok Greats' thing I have a files of, it was Rob and Todd just bashing each other in a friendly fashion. Rob actually drew stuff professional looking and Todd would draw a big stick-figure to illustrate a page layout. Rob would say 'give it some detail lines' and Todd would respond by giving the guy three lines of hair.![]()
That was back in 92. I wished Igot a couple of those, but I only had so-much money.
