a flare gun's primary use is to draw attention. cyclops and magneto are too busy screaming at each other while mutantkind goes down the toilet. cable is trying his best to change the channel.

lee's flare gun is absolutely essential given the circumstances. and, it's also something magneto can't control with his mind.

Now let's get back to the topic. Forrester could be used as an instrument of peace. She has stood her own against the likes of Magneto and it was her personality and her calm soothing nature that allowed her victory. The flare gun you speak of is irrelevant and I'm not equating that to how she can't be used as an olive branch for peace. Explain it to me.
Surely you agree that a pirate should not be used as a symbol for peace?

I am having a hard time portraying Lee Forrester in a good light.

    I disagree.

Lee Forrester should be sent into the timestream to get all that pent up sexual frustration out of Bishop and make him realize that he should be making babies, not killing them. Lee is the solution to Cyclops' and Cable's quandry, yet again.

I agree with you Aces. I used to think she was a slut but I saw that I was wrong.

So Scott hired onto Lee's ship back in Uncanny #143, while away from the X-Men after Jean's "death" in the Dark Phoenix Saga, and prior to meeting, well... Ms. Pryor. Lee invited him home, off the ship, to meet her Dad after that (#144). Her dad was already killed by the demon D'Spayre, though, and tried to take out Lee and Cyke, but he saved her and got away only to... wash up on Magneto's mysterious Caribbean isle in #145. In #146, the hurricane Storm brews up during the Arcade/Doom saga blows fierce enough that in knocks off the makeshift blindfold Scott made on the Carribean isle, and Scott reluctantly explains he's a mutant. In #147, they find the mysterious city that Magneto seemingly created overnight. #148, they actually find Magneto, himself. In #149, Mags plays a gracious host to Cyke and Lee, before revealing he knows who Cyke is, and his powers are inhibited by the mysterious city. #150, she helps the X-Men in their fight against Magneto, who flees after feeling guilty about giving Kitty Pryde a beatdown.

All's quiet for a bit, as Scott considers a return to the team... and then before he goes to Alaska to visit his grandparents, and fall for Maddie, he goes to Florida where Lee's in port one last time to shag her rotten in Uncanny #168.

Now single, Lee's MIA until Uncanny #188, where she saves Magneto at sea. Their romance, as it was, begins in New Mutants (vol. 1) #23, and grows from there.

Whew. And that's how Magneto didn't quite steal Scott's girl.
