Question What's your earliest (no reprints) issue of Amazing Spider-Man?

A friend of mine emailed me that he had finally beaten me... he bought a F+ copy of ASM#20 at a comic show (but he wouldn't tell me the price).

My earliest is ASM #25 (1st cameo of Mary Jane) in VF+/NM- condition that I bought when I owned my comic store (I only paid $20.00 for it such were the benefits of owning a store!).

I was just wondering what everyones earliest ACTUAL issue is, the condition and what they paid for it.

No reprints, Masterworks, DVD's, Marvel Tales or Essentials though... I'm talking ACTUAL issues of ASM.

Since I bought the DVD-ROM with all the issues, I never had need for originals up until recently. I do, however, have all original Giant-Size issues if we're counting those.

229 currently..... I found juggernaut part 1 NM for a reasonable price. ($24 labeled i was able to talk them down $20). 230 seems harder to find on the cheap at a good quality.

I tend to focus on extending my run. currently ive just purchased a few this past week.... now i have 244-598.... im beginning to start the search for annuals....

It's lost but I think it was the issue of Maximum Carnage where Cap pops up at the end.

I also think it featured some sweet Carnage crying like a bitch while being burned alive action.

I have the DVD too, but I enjoy the collecting as well. Finding that missing issue is like finding the Holy Grail.

What condition is your GS #1 in?

I also tend to work back from where I am (and I'm nowhere NEAR #25) but I also won't turn down a good deal!

Looking back, Cletus really was kind of a pussy, wasn't he?

I picked up #67 off the shelf as a boy (Mysterio trying to make Spider-man think he's 6 inches tall) and I still have it in Fine condition.

In my opinion is implied in every post. Please make an effort to remember that.

Had I enough money, that'd be something I'd be very interested in doing. But I'm at the point in my life where something like that just isn't economically feasible.

And the issue's in decent condition. Some fraying along the sides and a tear here or there, but otherwise it's fine, especially considering I got it for dirt cheap.

Strange Tales Annual#2. Condition Good for around $100 two years ago. Assuming it came out summer of '63 this will be like the 4th or 5th Spidey Story ever told.

Other gems in my collection would be Daredevil#16 and 17 (very first John Romita Sr Spider-Man story). Condition maybe VG. Don't remember price.

My first ASM is ASM#43. The first multipanel appearance of MJ. Condition F/VF. Bought it for $40 five years ago.

I decided in the late 90's that I shouldn't seek to complete the first 50 ASM Spidey comics, due to their steep pricing. Besides the Marvel Masterworks had done a good job of collecting already. Recently I have decided that I will buy up the ten issues I'm missing between 39 and 50 to complete my John Romita SR run on Spidey.

    I know I have a # 100. I might have one or two in the 60s or 70s.

ASM #50 with the cover ripped off. I do have the cover, it's just no longer attached to the book.
