Really looking forward to this. Gene Colan was a giant of an artist, whose work on Captain America during the '60's is frequently overlooked. I loved his run with Stan Lee, and can't wait to see this.
Cannot wait to get this book!![]()
Top 10: Hawkguy, GIJoe Cobra, The Massive, Daredevil, Wonder Woman, Fury MAX, The Black Beetle, Batman, Winter Soldier, Suicide Squad, and The Activity.
does this mean bucky's goin back to his winter soldier costume?
For a guy his age as well as his eye condition, this is pretty damn impressive.
I'm really glad the folks at Marvel as well as Ed gave Gene a shot to do this particular issue.
Gene the Dean! Loving that. I will pick it up.
Perfect humility dispenses with modesty.
So I guess going by that recap page, Steve is from the Lower East Side. I recall JoeQ and some others kept saying he was from Brooklyn (which I guess you could still throw in a change of address or something in his origin), but I remember it being mentioned in an old issue or something that Steve was from the Lower East Side. I guess some of these small incongruities between the published work and creators/editors gets to me at times.
im getting this for the artwork alone.
Pull List: The Avengers, Avengers Assemble, New Avengers, Secret Avengers, Iron Man, and The Ultimates.
It's stunning how much better the uncolored pencils look. I'm not a fan of coloring directly over pencils to begin with, and although I generally like D'armata's coloring on Cap, the color just crushes the life out of Colon's delicate rendering.
I started reading comics when Colan was still a regular presence and I have to say I was never big on his work then. My bad. It's a shame that printing tech in the 80's couldn't accurately render pencil shadings like this, because even the best inkers of the day couldn't do full justice to Colan's pencils. I have no idea how old Colan is (in his 80's I'm guessing) but I doubt most guys a third his age could touch this on the best day of their careers. Outstanding stuff.
Thanks Iron Starks
Loved Gene Colans art. Not sure what is going to be worse to Winter Soldier than all the Invaders turning on Bucky.
As to what Fury said about the fight in Civil War, and Fury saying "something doesn't look right", I wonder what that means? Is it just because Thor was fighting against Cap?
Visited NY and DC and saw Spider-Man Turn off the Dark.
cool I've been waiting for this story since for a while. Then again anything with Furry and Barnes taking I seem to love.
