Pretty cool idea. But what happened with the other Pilot Season books? The only I remember coming out was Cyblade. I was really looking forward to the Velocity book.

Sweet! Marc is one of the best designers in the business, so I know this is gonna be good. You're right Grant only the Cyblade book came out, I can't even remember who won last year!

    Velocity was canceled.

Finally, what can you say about the work of ChrisCross?

I can say that I love it almost unconditionally. I think he’s absolutely one of the best in the business. And one of its best-kept secrets. Cross and I have been trying to – and dying to – work together for years. Y’know, we were primed to do a “Velocity” series for Top Cow and although I wrote and got paid for three issues and Cross penciled a first issue that was so visually stunning and the best-looking thing Top Cow would’ve published this year, somewhere along the line that famous Top Cow brand of common sense disappeared into an unexpectedly bizarre rift in time and space, they started firing staff left and right – including our beloved editor – and our book was suddenly no more, resulting in an obviously broken promise to four million Pilot Season voters. Ouch.

But, hey, their loss is DC’s gain, right? Before you could say, ‘Diamond minimums,’ Cross and I landed on this series, which, let’s face it, is a lot cooler and will probably sell a few more copies.

Your guess is as good as mine regarding the rest.

Yeah I recall that. I thought they were going to get another artist to finish it.

And I have to say Final Crisis: Dance... not that good. And the Super Young Team was one of my favorite parts of Final Crisis.

    Kirkman's Haunt? Kirkman's Youngblood?

Also, "Silvestri designs"? Wake me when Silvestri draw some interiors... for more than two issues straight.

Yeah Silvestri isnt that old you wish he could draw interior art again.

For me i remember him fondly mostl for his Garth Ennis The Darkness issues.

From what I gather, the recent firings at Top Cow's editorial level put a major dent in the Pilot Season project. Velocity's cancellation was the first high profile victim of this.

Hopefully Genius will still be published, but there is entirely too little momentum. There has been no advertising for Genius since the win.

Overall, considering Top Cow's usual track record, Pilot Season's follow-up seems to be executed poorly.

I suppose we still have Zuda and Zeros2Heroes for indie/rookie projects, but YEESH.

Top Cow, if people actually come out to vote on this round of projects, TRY to follow up with more issues in a timely manner, will ya?

Top Cow not following through w/projects isn't something new. Their track record in recent years has forced me to abandon the singles and "wait for trade" on anything that peaks my interest, which sadly isn't much...

This is quite sad to read, since ChrisCross was only the artist on FINAL CRISIS AFTERMATH: DANCE (the DC book mentioned in this quote) for the first issue, before being replaced by another artist while he goes............dunno where (new DC project, limbo, *shrugs*).
