Default Shocking Thought: Could Grant Be Gail's Replacement?

Now before I start, I'm not advocating Grant taking over the book, and I don't want this thread to turn into a "Morrison sux" thread. This is PURELY hypothetical.

Now, Grant has SOME SORT of Wonder Woman book coming out. As we all know, Wonder Woman isn't setting the world on fire in terms of sales. Now I'm hoping this project will be a standalone mini or maxi, ala All-Star Superman or Multiversity, but what if it isn't?

Grant has a history of rebooting slumming titles, from JLA to the X-Men, so just to play Devil's Advocate here, could DC be hiring Grant to replace Gail and reboot the Wonder Woman line? It does kinda make sense....

It seems unlikely. All indications seem to be that Gail's on the book for the long haul and Morrisson's project sounds more like a personal thing that he hasn't even finished working on, rather than him taking on the ongoing. I'm guessing if anything Grant's going to be doing the long talked about "All Star Wonder Woman" book

It would certainly generate more sales, bringing a larger audience, to the character if Grant wrote the monthly instead of Gail.

I would personally prefer that Grant's project be in the form of a mini or graphic novel though as i'm enjoying Gail's run too much to ever see her leave.

Either way, any Wonder Woman project from Grant would, I assume, be a long way away from release. Grant's working on several Vertigo projects right now, has expressed an interest in continuing on Batman & Robin beyond the first 12 issues and has Multiversity in the works so i'd assume any Wonder Woman project would follow after them (unless it becomes part of Multiversity using an alternate Wonder Woman).

Nah, Gail has been saying long, including pretty recently, that she plans on staying on the book for a while, that there are further plot developments coming along, villains planned, etc. She's also said that there are a few upcoming Wonder Woman projects (note the plural). I'd say it's more likely that Grant could be writing that Wonder Woman: Blackest Night tie-in.

I am slowly going crazy in anticipation for these additional Wonder Woman plans that Gail's been hinting at.
I hope we don't have to wait much longer for annonucements regading them to come through.

I think DC learned in 2004 that abruptly changing creative teams just isn't good fr business. An example with Gail occured during her run on Action Comics.

I don't think Morrison is doing a Wonder Woman book so soon. He's on Batman & Robin a year. He has a Multiverse book coming next year where he maps it all out as a series. He seems to be tied up the next 2 years with these projects.

But I do think the way he's talking late 2010 , early 2011 could be the year he jumps on Wonder Woman as a book and does his run.

It makes sense that they put a big name sales puller onto the book considering the sales, but I don't think it'd happen any time soon. Gail's WW seems well recieved, and Morrison seems quite busy.

Replacing Gail with Grant on Wonder Woman?

Well, on the plus side, it would save me $2,99 a month.

However, I think you'll be prying Diana from Gail's "cold, dead fingers" before she leaves this title.

Why do people keep saying this? Again, I'm not supporting the idea, but all DC would have to do is FIRE her from the book, right?

I hate to be "that guy", but do we really need a whole new thread about this to stir up hornets nests and wild panicked unsubstantiated rumors about Gail not writing Wonder Woman anymore?

I think that way when I know its a Judd Winick book. Now when its a Grant Morrison one...."hmmmm Grant Morrison writing 7 Soldiers of Victory....never really read those characters before. But its freakin Grant Morrison so its gotta be worth a shot !"

Exactly.... hell on the DC boards people are already debating that Robinson's run won't last long and he'll be gone. And he's not even did anything on the series yet.
