I wouldn't hold my breath.
"Mike Carey has taken Rogue a long way and I am committed to finishing the journey. It's what I want to do. But around #275 or so, that will likely reach its culmination. Until then, though, it's a Rogue-centric book. If you want Gambit more self-directed and dynamic, there's ASTONISHING and his upcoming solo book"

I was joking, mostly. Gambit's been ooc for too long in Legacy, no excuses for a neutered/puppydog/no balls characterisation. It's not that bad, but like i say i'm reading Legacy up untill after Avx unless it improves when it comes to Gambit.
I hope it's just the case of "haven't read up on the character yet", which Gage stated before.

I think the problem people have with Legacy's Gambit is they were expecting a traditional team book, with characters developing individually. Unfortunately, Legacy reason too exist is to look at the X-men from a particular perspective, in this case being Rogue. Even if Gage reads up on the character, I doubt we are going to see much in improvement.
Of course reading up on a character will make a difference, Gage already said he didn't know much about Gambit and that's why he researches. It's the differences between puppydog plain Gambit and fun trash talking Gambit, he writes Frenzy a bit like this, not sure why he can't do the same with Gambit. Legacy being Rogue's perspective dosen't make a difference, he can still console/defend Rogue whilst on the other hand being more in character.

We got two stories out of Gage so far. Gambit did trash talk with Exodus. I don't think any writer would characterize him as someone who would trash talk to Rogue when she's about to risk her life. We should wait until AvX, that will be Gage's first actual chance to write Gambit correctly.
I was speaking generally about what he's like, defo not been his charasmatic self so far when he's had ample time to do so, just a very plain neutered character. But as to the bold, sure, pretty much what we've been saying for awhile, AVX should be around the time when he's done the research, plus a fight with Moonknight coming up.

The only thing out of character he did with Gambit was to have him freak out about his thing with Frenzy. Aside from that, we are getting his interaction with Rogue. He can't exactly go back to being the mysterious suave guy to her, she already knows him quite well.
Didn't say he should go back to being the mysterious guy
Just to have his established character traits, charismatic, not fretting after kissing someone. It may be that he's just all emo about his death persona/dumping Rogue, but hopefully the character moves past it.
Like i said it's not that bad, but Gage is doing research so we should see an improvement.

I'd say he's been written poorly in every issue except Gage's first. Liu managed to write a good take on Gambit with him filling a supportive role to a female main character, same as in Legacy. There he had wit, charisma, an established life outside of his support role, self-agency, and managed to kick a lot of ass in his fight with Daken. In Legacy he's....charged Legion's cape, which proved to be utterly meaningless.
