"Damn the Man" Thread
Let's face it, the X-Men have often captured the imagination of fans for being so damned anti-establishment, that it hurts. Sure, they operate within the system as much as they can (hell, they even worked for Fred (B.I.) Duncan at one point), but by and large, when government authorities try to keep those with the X-gene down, the X-Men have stood tall. And so, in fact, have other mutant freedom fighters.
With "Utopia" being the big crossover of the moment, and Norman Osborn and his government stooge Dark Avengers harassing the X-Men... Figured maybe it's a good time to discuss and post scans of some classic moments where the Children of the Atom have said, "Damn the Man". Be it subtle subversion and attitude, outright attacking authorities and/or resisting arrest, or political statements that can't be missed. Doesn't matter if it's an X-Team, a Brotherhood team, hell, even the MLF, Gene Nation, or Alpha Flight if you want (2nd series would do). Let's see and hear about some rebels, sticking it to "The Man"?
Maybe a few examples to get things started:
- Freedom Force shows up, asks X-Factor and their wards to sign forms as per the Mutant Registration Act. Rusty Collins burns the one held out in front of him in their face.
- Joanna Cargill goes in front of the United Nations, and reads a manifesto by Magneto.
- Jean Grey and Gambit break into the Pentagon, regarding Sentinel Projects.
- Beast breaks off a table leg, hands it to Henry Peter Gyrich and tells him to go fight superhuman threats himself.
- Anything the Quentin Quire and the Omega Gang did.
- Emma Frost psionically assaulting the detective investigating her sister Adrienne's death.
