So Shamus will let the mags die a slow death, and invest his money in Conventions instead? Eh, not the stupidest thing to do...
Yeah its not a bad plan. He has the "Wizard" name still even if the magazines die off slowly.
This what...makes his 6th or 7th convention Wizard owns now ?

Sucks 200 character limit.
There is some interesting wording going on here. Note that it does not say Wizard purchased the convention, but that Gareb Shamus did so--while Shamus owns Wizard and is intrinsically associated with it, they are separate legal entities.
Could be nothing. But given Wizard's current state of affairs, I wouldn't be surprised if Gareb is making his move to abandon ship and start over.
AWESOME! Maybe Marvel & DC won't come to this con, like they didn't for WW Philly?!?!?
Sneak Peeks, Discussions, and Fan Photography of Marvel & DC Comics Statues at Statue Marvels
they came to HeroesCon which i was at last weekend and it was awesome.
i thought that both companies had people at philly? i thought there were articles with artists and writers that were there? or are you talking about having a marvel and dc panel/booth?
i hope the wizard cons die. i have had horrible times at their cons.

There were no booths. Not that I care about Marvel or DC, but I does say something when the 2 big guys are not present on the convention floor. I thought there was a lack of big name professionals as well. I find that every year, the Baltimore Comicon kills Wizardworld Philly hands down. It sucks too cause I live in Philly so I want it to be better.

I hope he's better at owning conventions than he was at owning a MMA organization...
And on another note, I wonder what this means to the Fan Expo?
Fan Expo Canada is going strong, and we've already announced the Fall 2009 to Spring 2010 Toronto ComiCON and Toronto AnimeCON event dates on the website... http://hobbystar.com/upcomingevents/index.html
