Although confused after regaining his senses, da Costa was abandoned by all except for his girlfriend, Juliana. This attracted the attention of Donald Pierce, renegade White Bishop of the Hellfire Club, who attempted to kidnap da Costa but failed, taking Juliana instead. Charles Xavier intervened, sending his formative New Mutants to help da Costa confront Pierce. In the battle, however, Juliana took a bullet meant for Bobby. Consumed with grief and anger, da Costa helped defeat Pierce and accepted Xavier’s invitation to join the New Mutants. Taking the code-name Sunspot, da Costa served with the New Mutants, learning more about his powers and participating in many adventures.

    Thank you for

    1) Not using the word "appreciation"

    2) Putting some effort into it

it should also be noted that like M, roberto suffers from vitiligo, affecting 100% of his body. this can be seen in young x-men and the latest new mutants series and explains the change in skin tone.

kudos to marvel for having the balls to have characters with this affliction. they're real humanitarians

    Domo arigato.

I used the forum search function to see if there was a Sunspot thread to post pix in..and there wasnt one.

Rereading the New Mutant's early issues..I was struck by, the level of loss Roberto endured. His GF , his Mother..and then his father 's absence and hatred of him for being a mutant..

Berto had a lot of rage and it appeared asthough he was groomed to be the Wolverine of the New Mutant team. His moral compass tended to swing to the gray area.

I'll have to disagree with you about M, but Roberto had been portrayed much darker as seen in the various scans in this thread.

Now, what have been some of your favorite Sunspot relationships, Romantic or otherwise?

There is obviously the Sam/Roberto friendship. I particularly liked his relationship with Meltdown. It was unexpected, but made sense. Of course it ended up just the way you would expect it to.
