Hands down one of the funniest things that I've ever read. Kirkman's a comedy genius.

This is my first post so i don't want to sound like a Marvel loyalist or something, but this kinda turns me off any book Kirkman does, it's not funny and doesn't help really to make me buy any image book over marvel's, sure, the "Cap" strategy was really bad and misleading, but seeing other publisher triying to sell his book the way Kirkman does is childish, just like Quesada sometimes does to DC with his inside jokes, it doesn't help to any side.
Hey he's already got my 2.99. I'm hoping it doesn't sell out. I don't know if I'll survive the frenzy of comic fans lining up around the stores.
Genius.
I'm personally sick to death of the Marvel marketing machine. The DC one too, for that matter. "It's an event!!" No kidding? So what are all the rest of your books?
You shouldn't need to do the "drastic" bullcrap that both companies are becoming more and more known for just to get people to read your books. If you're doing it right, people should want to read your books because of the merit of the book, not the sweeping change it brings for their universe.
However, having said all that, this could easily be a very sly way of Kirkman telling people that they really may want to check this particular one out. He's been talking about killing Atom Eve off for a couple months now, and based on the preview released yesterday, she's going to be running off into the middle of this fight with the guy currently kicking Mark's ass. Kirkman's never been afraid of killing characters, even beloved ones...hell, he's even got a backup Invincible, just in case he ever decides to kill off Mark (his brother, Oliver). And for the most part, his characters seem to stay dead when they die. It's not like I'm looking for the "Return of Rex Splode" next summer.
Kirkman's like the little kid in the family who's always trying to get everyone's attention by saying "Hello! Look at me! I'm hanging from a tree!!!"
I've already sold my first born for this issue.
Awesome stuff! I'm in.
Doctor Who? Doctor.... Who!!?!
This makes me so happy.
You know, I get the whole "he's acting childish" side of it. I really do. But even so, I don't know why, but I just really enjoyed it.
Great satire.
Marvel's hype machine surrounding Captain America #600 was just plain ridiculous. They should be ashamed of themselves, although considering the big numbers the issue is sure to get, I'm sure they'll try to pull this trick again.
I kinda get this. I don't see how Kirkman (or any writer that would do this) would be surprised at some responses like this. On the other hand, though, I'm a big fan of Invincible and The Walking Dead, so for me, this is kind of a tip of the hat to fans. Just some good fun.
However, I also wonder if this was the most...professional...move to make, considering his criticism of Marvel in the last year.
Sadly, I can also see how this is true.Originally Posted by escapegoat

Was this kinda childish? Maybe a little.
It still doesn’t change that Invincible is better than the vast majority of Marvel and DC’s recent “event” books.
New and improved me. Now with a CAPITAL “B”.
