"The Valeyard is an amalgamation of the darker side of the Doctor’s nature. Somewhere between his 12th and final incarnation."
If it's not immediately apparent in the post, I (and I'm sure others) don't make a habit of scouring the page for signs that it might be sarcastic.
"A series like this takes a great deal of coordination and preparation. We're starting now--and the plan is to release it next summer."-Erik Larsen, 2008
Look, we all know this thing is embarassingly late. I'm pretty sure Erik won't disagree.
Dredging up a post from 2008 from one of the 6 pencillers that has a hand in this doesn't mean anything. Erik's not Todd's boss, neither is he Rob's, Jim's, Marc's, nor Whilce's. If he was the only one working on it, I'm sure it would have been out in the summer of '09.
Fact remains that this 6 issue mini was a massive undertaking, and that maybe they underestimated the amount of work (and commitment) that would have to go into making this a reality.
At this point I'd rather them finish the remaining 3 issues before releasing anything than to have the issues trickle out every 6 months.
So is Todd holding up the works or what?
It's not been done at this scale before for a reason. It's a logistical nightmare.
I'm not sure where you're getting your info on who has or hasn't done their part, either - as besides a few friendly jabs, these guys aren't going to throw each other under the bus for this. Speculate as much as you like - only the creators involved know how much is done and by whom.
They should wait to publish the remainder of the series once the 6th issue is done.
