It'll probably look fine in the film, but as a stand alone photo, it's less than inspiring. The tattoos are a nice touch though.
However, that's pretty armor-less. What's to stop Tony from, you know, taking him out with one repulsor blast?
I'm sure this is probably an "early prototype" whiplash suit for the start of the movie as the finalized concept art depicts a lot more armor on the costume than this picture.
Though I am not that thrilled about it but reserve faith in Favreau to make this all work.
Good to see he's rocking facial hair like the rest of the male cast.
I assume that has to be a prototype suit too. Though you would think he'd at least include a helmet.

Anyone else wonder why they're combining Crimson Dynamo and Whiplash for the movie?
Trying desperately not to flame this, but honestly, that's not necessarily the best image to release as a "first look". It does look awfully silly.
That is kind of strange. I thought Vanko was Crimson Dynamo's name. Looking it up, I was right.
I'm kind of wondering why they went with a variation of Whiplash in the first place. If they're going to go with one of Tony's more "rank and file" rogues, you'd think the first choice would be someone like Blizzard. Of all the villians on that level, Blizzard would be the one that people seem to like most. Maybe Living Laser is higher, but he kind of kept evolving into something bigger. Mind you, Whiplash isn't an awful choice. It's not like it's Whirlwind or anything, but still . . .
I don't know. I may be alone in this, but I think it looks promising, particularly in relation to some of the early leaked images of the Iron Man armor from the first film. It looked silly at first, and as time went on, it looked better and better.
I reserve judgement until I see the final product.

* All my comments are strictly my opinion, you'll notice my tongue never leaves my cheek.
You would think they would at least add a head gear. Then again it just may be a prototype. Can't wait for the film release.
a lot of early teasers look silly until you see it in context of a good performance. and if i had to guess i'd say that might be the final version of what whiplash is going to look like in the film sans bondage mask ala the newest costume of the comic's whiplash. here's to hoping he gets to fly on a little disc thing!
If I recall, didn't different people wore the Crimson Dynamo armor?
I like Whiplash/Blacklash,but I think Whiplash isn't powerful enough to take IM on his own.

This costume needs the big black cape and cowl with PURPLE PONYTAIL that he had in the comics (when he was Blacklash)!![]()
