Default Sketch Update.. Times 3!!! 6-3-09 Darna!! SPIDER JERUSALEM!!

It's hard for me to believe.. but it's true.. The summer season about to get under way.. we are a few weeks away from Heroescon in North Carolina, and San Diego is looming the next month... It's time to do some serious sketching.. I'm sure there will be many pin ups made during those shows... But don't think that I've not already gotten warmed up, I've attached scans to 3 pieces I made for fans at SUPERCON in San Jose.. ( One of my most very favorite shows period!... If you are a fan of comic book art you need to make your plans for next year.. the guest list is outta this world!)

o.k.. o.k. on to the art!

This first piece is a really cool character named "Darna"( she's a li'l girl who acidently swallows a stone from a meteor and then has a space amazon teleported to Earth to take her place in moments of crisis.. (I'm not making this up!.. She's super popular in the Philippines and dates back to the 1940's!!

Next up is a character from The Runaways.. I don't know the comic very well, but I like magic sticks that look cool to draw, but might not be that much fun to have to carry every day!

And finally ( I never expected to draw this character ).. Spider Jerusalem from Transmetropolitan.... ( Sigh.. where is my old roommate, Odie, when I need him.. He knows about these characters..)

Thanks for everyone who comes to see me at the conventions across the country! I'm going to be hitting the road again soon!.. So there's more to come!

That's a really good Spider Jerusalem. You should email that scan to Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson.

    Default spider-J

Hey there Baby Dave.. I'm glad that you like the spider-j art... You know I've never met Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson.. and for that reason I have no idea how to e-mail the pic to them... if you know how to, please forward it... we need more comics like Transmet!

Nice work on the Darna art, though you may have gone overboard on the chest area. I also notice you changed the headdress, which I wouldn't have a problem with if it didn't remind me too much of some version of Wonder Woman. (The cartoon?)

    Default Sketch Update Times 3

Well the sketch sessions are about sketching mostly so I wouldnt focus to hard on trying to come up with an original design brief or something..
    The kettle idea sounds nice..

This topic btw will stay open forever, so I wont open a new suggestions thread for each month.
