A Magog miniseries could be okay. An ongoing, however? Never say never, but... it's highly unlikely to succeed on any level.

You can really see that Keith Giffen has been going back to the old Stan and Jack books a lot lately -- His Doom Patrol interview was filled with references to their "Fantastic Four" run, and he repeatedly goes back to Stan and Jack's Thor in this interview -- I can't imagine a better place to take inspiration.

As to this series, I was excited as soon as I heard the creative team, and I'm more excited after this interview. I like the Magog character, in concept, if only because I love his cosmic connections. I dig his look as well.

But I also know that Keith Giffen is one of the most creative minds in comics, and that if anyone can make this book work it's him. He really gets concepts of 'scale', having done great work on Annihilation and Legion of Superheroes, but he can also do mythic/religious very well, as seen in his horror-esque "Four Horsemen" mini series.

I have an unnatural love of Howard Porter's art. I know it's not technically the best, but it's so damn energetic that I can't help but be moved by it, consistently. Hopefully Giffen takes into account that Porter is an ACTION artist, rather than a pensive one, and delivers scripts accordingly.

But yeah, the idea of a Thor in the DCU works really, really well for me. I hope we see him dealing with threats for New Gods and Old as, to be perfectly honest, the first situations mentioned seem a bit...street level...for a character like Magog.

If they're going by Kirby's Thor, here's hoping he gets his own Loki, Mangog, Destroyer, Mephisto, etc.

DC might as well have kept JSA Classified running, they could have tested the popularity of Magog there with a 2-parter. I personally am not interested.

However, I am definitely interested in an ongoing Mister Terrific comic.

Some other possibilities for monthly titles featuring JSA characters:

    Hawkman
    Hourman and Liberty Belle
    Stargirl
    Doctor Mid-nite
Wildcat (both Ted and Tommy in the same book)
    Sandman
Power Girl (I'm not interested, but I know that other fans are)

Even a Mister America comic might be good, if written by Brubaker or Rucka.

I agree with all your choices, especially Doctor Mid-Nite and Sandman.

And yeah, Power Girl is already started.

Yeah, this ain't gonna last a year.

What a weird idea for an ongoing. I would think this was strange as a co-feature in the JSA but as an ongoing? This is just nutty covered nuttiness isn't it?

Guess I am the only one on these boards getting this issue?

I have to pull a quote from the "Are you kidding me Dan?" thread that I wrote:

That said, there are always titles and mini-series that green lighted that every single person reading the solicit (and then the first issue) is a cancellation waiting to happen.
This is one of those series.

They were at least smart enough to put a decent creative team on it, because it's the only shot this book has of making it past 12 issues.

Okay, that has to be the funniest thing I've seen all day. And I would definitel buy that mag! Love him!

(And, even though I don't really understand why, I'll probably end up getting the Magog book since it seems that I tend to be a glutton for punishment)

    Does this count as metacommentary?
Current DC is the Magog of KC, embracing the Golden Calf with all their bloodthirsty and ultra violent stories?

Oh wow. A cornfed idiot ex army boy whose costume and identity is based off of a borderline psychotic pastiche of nineties anti heroes from Kingdom Come. Sign me up.

Was there ANY demand for a Magog series at all?

    From anyone?

    Buller? Buller?
