Default Star Trek might brake $200 mill, Wolverine won't

Star Trek Is on it way to $200million (Third time for a Star Trek Movie)
and its looks like Wolverine won't reach $200million

    I'm happy..

Wolverines shows that he is NOT!! such a hugely popular character that Marvel thinks he is.. and Star Trek might beat the first movie (unlikely.. but its still possible)

Wolverine would have been so much better if the character in the film had marginally resembled the character from the comics. Or if they hadn't shoved in a bunch of characters from the comics and given them all the personality of a red shirt.

I don't think it really shows that for Wolverine. What is basically X-Men 4 (which is how my cinema had it listed) is going to do over $150m in the US alone, doesn't really say someone isn't hugely popular.

I assume you mean break. "Braking" a movie might be kind of awesome though!

So... I guess JJ Abrams is going to get to work on the next one super quick now. After Mission: Impossible III and Cloverfield he probably had been starting to feel he'd be stuck with TV gigs permanently until now.

you do know that JJ Abrams didn't direct Cloverfield? he was just a producer.

Star Trek was the second film he ever directed..

Yeah, I knew. But the main point was that he hasn't had much success with movies. In any role. Unless you count that he wrote "Armageddon" and well... at the very least that was a CREATIVE failure if not a financial one.

Er, no. It shows that mediocre quality can bring a poor return (not always, though; plenty of bad movies succeed).

Marvel doesn't "think" Wolverine is a hugely popular character; they know it. 3 decades of sales and fan response provide the proof.

All those numbers prove is what Fanboys think of their own opinions. 200 million doesn't mean anything to no one but you. Otherwise I would have gotten my Returns sequel instead of Wolvie does Japan.

Had Returns been a better movie and not have a 200mill + budget then it would have gotten a sequel..

lets just hop the Supes appearance in Green Lantern (if it stays in the script) will result in something

Agreed. So Wolverine's box office has no play on his comic importance. Just means Star Trek was a more enjoyable movie.

Besides, considering all the lame fan projections(less than 130 mill) of how badly Wolverine was going to based on the workprint, making 180 million only proves how popular the character is in my opinion.

Wolverine was terrible. glad people realised this on the second and third week.

What? Yes he is, for comic books.
