    I can't remember an instance where she put herself in harm's way just to fulfill an assignment or get an advantage.

    It's only ever been when a life (any life) was in jeopardy. Of course this often doubles as an assignment. But not always. Like when she threw her secret identity away to help a killer she thought was worth helping, because he refused a hit and was about to be killed for it.

    In all fairness though, she had/has little concept of the importance of a secret identity so she wasn't giving up much, as far as she was concerned.

    She tended to put herself in harms way a lot more when she first started out. Such as 'Mark of Cain' pt2 (during noMans Land) where she pushed Cain out the window and took the fall with him.
    Also, in Gotham Knights #2 where she pushed Batman out of the way, he chewed her out for it and left her to escape a sinking ship by herself (what a jerk).
    She still did crazay stuff too later in her career though. In the crossover with Robin, in the Fresh Blood storyline, she let Tim beat her and then shoot her, so they could excape.
    At the end of her series she placed herself in front of Mad Dogs knife to prove a point to some assassins.
    Those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

    Yeah, Cass does have a bit of a death wish.

    @The Cool Thatguy:
    True, but I don't think she would have cared much at that point. She would just have been more aware of the risk she is taking.

    @Henker:
    I think this scene did not show her death wish, just her obsession not to let anybody die, no matter what.

    I think her death wish didn't manifest itself until her fights with Shiva. Especially when she prepared for the rematch. There were many ways to avoid that confrontation, and it was not a confrontation that was part of any assignment or to save anybody. That she went into it, that was a true death wish.

    I agree with yeah Dard. Because at that point Cass was at her lowest point (not being able to read thus had to do certain ballsy moves like said running in front of a dude shooting at her). She even contemplated that fact of either Shiva helps her and she lives for a year doing what she does at 100% best or she doesn't. She can't be Batgirl again and thus ends the quest of helping the innocents.

    It's that sort of death wish that should have ended but just looking at what Cass's become now she's almost in that hole again. She has no other life. She's completely embraced this identity as Batgirl. Unless of course though I highly doubt it her crush with that classmate from that Batgirl mini worked out.

    Still? I thought she'd worked through that.

    She doesn't anymore. I probably should have used the past tense.

    Well, Beechen-Cass still wishes for death... just not her own.
    'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
    'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

    Or went mad. Either or... Though I have to ask between a choice of whose redemption story for Cass would you read would you go for Beechen's six issue one or Dixon's? Somebody so has to ask Dixon one day what that story was about.

    Yes you do. In the past, you were constantly comparing everything to Cass' last arc and saying how it was better. You would not change your mind and would not change the subject.. We dealt with it, so you should be able to handle a single joke.
