Y-The Last Man : Is there a future?

There are some books and movies that do not need a sequel, not because they are bad but because they are so good that sequel will taint the legacy these movies and books leave behind.

Is Y-The Last Man one of those? I just finished the Vol. 10 trade and dangit, I just can't let go, I want to continue in this world, I want to continue reading about these characters. Do you think there is ever a way to continue on in this world? Or should we just let what BKV and Pia Guerra wrote and drew be all that we see from this wonderful world?

If it did continue, where do you think the story might go?

The story was so good that I tend to agree, but at the same time I just finished reading issue #60 and I don't want it to be over.

I agree with Bat on this, and I didn't want it to end either. But just find some other comics and get into other things, but still not forget the magnifisence of Y.

Try his Runaways series from Marvel. I don't know if it's as good as Y, but it's still one of my favorite BKV series.

Try Ex Machina at Wildstorm. Set in a superhero-free, realistic world, a guy lucks into a genuine superpower, and after a few years of amateuriistic superheroics he retires and becomes mayor of New York.

Oh yeah, the vertigo books are mostly creator owned, i forget that sometimes.

Y is over. I really can't see any sort of sequel, particularly involving any of the main characters. I could see Vaughn and Guerra doing a one-shot or two involving some of the peripheral characters - along the lines of the theatre trouple issues - but even that would be stretching it. The story's over, and anything further just runs the risk of diminishing its greatness.

I really enjoyed Vaughn's Doctor Strange series. I'd absolutely read a Strange ongoing written like that. Worth checking out.

I think they left room in the story for more, but that it's ultimately unnecessary. The story is perfect the way it is. Maybe for a 10/20 year anniversary thing, BKV and Pia could get back together and do a little short story, but I don't think it really needs to be touched in anyway.

I'm a huge BKV fanboy. He's my favorite writer, and I've been really sad to see that his TV career seems to be taking up all his time these days. He's really only got Ex Machina running right now.

But, here's some suggestions:
Runaways volumes 1 (18 issues) and 2 (24 issues by BKV with an additional 6 by Joss Whedon, 30 total) from Marvel. He created some truly amazing characters with this series. The BKV issues are available in three amazing hardcovers:
- Volume 1 collects all 18 issues of the first run of Runaways. Seriously, get it. It's an amazing piece of work. Every single time that I pick up this book, I have to dedicate myself to it, because I won't put it down until I am done with all 18 issues. Buy it. I promise you, you will love it.
- Volume 2 collects the first 12 issues of the second run of Runaways, as well as the X-Men/Runaways Free Comic Book Day issue. (A lot of stuff on the Amazon page is wrong. The cover and the issue numbers are both wrong on this listing, but the customer image is correct).
- Volume 3 collects issues 13-24 of the second run of Runaways, and the final issues by BVK.
Runaways did continue on in his absence, but thus far, only the Joss Whedon run has been worth a damn.

BKV has also done:
Doctor Strange: The Oath for Marvel
Logan, also for Marvel

Pride of Baghdad was an amazing graphic novel from BKV for Vertigo.

Batman: False Faces collects BKV's three issue run of Batman, his issue of Detective Comics, and his two issues of Wonder Woman into one trade.

Ex Machina from Wildstorm is his only running series right now, and it'll be coming to an end fairly soon, but it's been one hell of a ride. I highly suggest it.

The Escapists from Dark Horse is one of my top five all time favorite comic book mini-series. This HC collects BKVs entire run, and it's just....beautiful.

Also, for Buffy fans, he wrote the No Future for You story arc focusing on Faith.

And he did an entire run of Swamp Thing (2000 - 20 issues), which hasn't been collected into trade format for Vertigo. I'm not too familiar with this series. I've been trying to get my hands on all the issues, but I've only gotten like 5 of them, all towards the end of the run.

Y the Last Man, Runaways, and Ex Machina are his biggest series.

I stopped reading Ultimate Universe after Ultimates 2 ended, the Mystique book though is one I've wanted to try but I think it's way down the list for me, I have others I want to read before that.
