Ooh, nice to see that Astro City: Dark Age Book 3 #1 is due out on May 6th. Can't wait to get my hands on that, although I was kind of expecting another one-shot Astro City special before Dark Age resumed but that was obviously a mistake on my part.

I'm also pretty stoked to hear Kurt say that the one-shot special we'll be getting between Dark Age book 3 and 4 will be showcasing Astra of the First Family. The last issues that centered on her (in Vol. 2 #2 & #3 I believe) are among my favourite issues of Astro City, so it's gonna be great to be revisiting the character. It'll also be doubly interesting because as Kurt says "she’s graduating from college, so we’re checking in to see what she’s up to and how she’s dealing with it." I can't wait for this!

It's just such a shame that Astro City takes so darn long to come out. I realise that you can't rush perfection but it is awfully tough being an Astro City fan sometimes, especially when it seems to take forever for stories to get told.

I mean, take the Dark Age 12-issue maxi-series for example, if this had been any other book it would've all been done and dusted in a year. As it is, here we are 3 and a half years after the story-arc began and we're only just now beginning the second half of the story. It's really exciting to read Kurt Busiek talking about upcoming Astro City stories in that interview but I can't help thinking "Jeez Louise, I'm gonna be collecting my pension before those stories hit the stands!". A slight exaggeration, to be sure but still, it's quite frustrating having to wait so long.

I've been buying Astro City since the very first issue back in 1995, so these delays are hardly a new development but still, I do find myself wishing that Kurt could turn out the book a bit more regularly.

I'd given up seeing anything on Arrowsmith. Good news.

The novel route would fit the series well since it seemed like a world that would lends itself to dense historical world-building.

Wonder if the Oktober Revolution and Behind Enemy Lines have been folded into this or if it's a new story.

This is the story that would have been called "Behind Enemy Lines" if it were a comic.

The October Revolution, I think, is next after that...

If you mean the second arc, it's already out in hardcover -- ASTRO CITY: THE DARK AGE 1 - BROTHERS & OTHER STRANGERS collects the Prologue and Books One and Two.

It'll be out in paperback in July.

    (Quote is from the interview)

Is all of book 4 really already done, or should it say "all of Book 3"?

Looking forward to new Arrowsmith stories as well...

We're not that far ahead. Brent is working on the second issue of the ASTRA two-parter now; Book Four of THE DARK AGE will be next after that.

Book Four will be after the Astra two-parter, much like we've had the character specials in between books for the rest of the run.

The plan, at least, is for the Samaritan, Beautie, Astra and Silver Agent "character specials" to be collected at some point, but it'll be at some point after the Silver Agent one comes out, which will be after Book Four.

I think the only "loose end," as it were, is the VISITOR'S GUIDE, which will eventually be collected somewhere, I'd expect.
