Default CBR: Getting Ahead of Himself: Gischler on New Deadpool Series

Marvel's meanest villains won't get a word in edgewise in July, when"Deadpool:
Merc with a Mouth" debuts with the loquacious Wade Wilson is teaming up with -
himself? CBR talked to writer Victor Gischler about the book.

I guess the author confirmed it himself:

In an email with the Deadpool Bugle, Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth writer Victor Gischler confirmed that this is actually an ongoing series, and not just a miniseries as previously thought:

"Yes, this is an ongoing series. I'm hoping I can live up to the responsibility of writing such a cool, popular character."

The way things are today, I can't see the market sustaining 2 DP ongoings. The current series has done well, but its also been tied to events for the most part since it started last year. Who besides Wolverine has multiple books right now? At least his 2 solo books deal with different topics.
I'll probably check out the 1st issue to see what its like, but I don't know if I like the character that much to get 2 books a month.

BTW, I'm not familiar with the writer or artist. Are either of these guys good? Will their style translate well to DP?

That is freaking AWESOME but very very surprising. Nice to have an alternative to the other Deadpool ongoing.

    Good for Marvel.

But probably not good for Deadpool.

I hope this doesn't become an Iron Man situation where this new book becomes the only one. I really like Way's Deadpool and its selling well too. I hope he stays on it for a long time

I guess I should probably wait for the first issue to decide how happy I am about this... but it's so hard not to be thrilled. I knew the Wolverine movie had to be good for something. Yes, yes, my enthusiasm could (and likely will) come back to haunt me, but... huzzah!

I like Deadpool but even I'm asking, why? Do we need two? I'd rather have one where something can happen to the character. One of these has just got to turn into an "adventure of the month" style book, set up for team ups, fun adventures and gags... which lets be honest, is basically Deadpool anyway. Why do we need two of those?

I guess Marvel has a lot of faith that Deadpool is going to become ultra popular after the Wolverine movie

I'm with Crimson. Deadpool is cool, but two books?

I'd rather Wolverine get another one. (Just kidding!)

Punisher: Little Black Book was an amazing one-shot. I didn't realize he was the guy who wrote it. I have higher hopes for this new ongoing than what Way is currently doing.
