He looks like Tron in jodhpurs.
...Doing disco Adam Strange impressions, at that. Still, I've no interest in this at all. There's one reason, and it's the biggest complaint so far about this series since the creators first announced it and talked about it over on Newsarama: no Twiki. Sorry kids, but some additions to a classic mythology deserve to live on despite bullshit copyrights.
Yup. A little Tron, a little of X-Men's Havok. The visuals are striking, but not particularly distinct as a separate visual property.
Well done, though.
Hey, Buck Rogers, Zorro, Flash Gordon, Lone Ranger, the Phantom...I'm LOVIN' the fact that the industry is dusting these concepts and characters off and making them new and relevant again!
I like the design. I'm more interested in the character tho. Ross's paintings have him as seeming...unemotional and dispassionate. While that may only be the depiction, I wonder if he'll be the maverick, I-can-do-the-impossible, flies-by-the-seat-of-his-pants guy that he's been in the past. It's always interesting tho to hear what thought processes and influences Ross drew from to design things.
I'm also curious about how he was brought into the future.
"You are here for a reason! Now...I don't know what reason...whose reason...but there's one thing I do know...It ain't to score touchdowns!"
It was a good #0 issue. Scott Beatty did it right: he has me intrigued enough to try the fisrt arc. I knew he would be great on this book.
Dynamite is my favorite publisher right now. They do so many different genres & usually do them well. Look at their lineup. SciFi: Buck Rogers/ Battlestar Galactica/ Dan Dare. Westerns: Lone Ranger/ Man With No Name/ Zorro. Superheroes: Project Superpowers/ The Phantom/ Green Hornet Fantasy: Red Sonja/ Jungle Girl. Classics: Dracula/ Sherlock Holmes. War: Battlefields.
