    Default Saddened..............

I saw the sales for REBELS #1 was like 22k, this makes me very sad. There are so many weak, bland boring books getting 35-60k or more in sales. What does it take to be a hot book and grab fans

    1) cool story, bad ass puts together a strike team to take back his police force ( check )
    2) great art-Andy is excellent, I will compare this to nearly any book on the market ( check )
    3) cool charecters, Dox, Tribulus, wildstar, etc....Check
    4) new / Fresh idea, here it is, check it out ( checkmate )

Come on , try this title and see what I am talking about, or if you are trying it already, maybe buy an xtra and tell your LCS operator to throw it in someones bag who is not reading it yet.
I want this book to be here in 2 to 3 years, Tony Bedard is a great writer and deserves a hit book

The book is still going to get cancelled. I predict it won't last to February of next year.

Fact is, it should have spun off of Blackest Night ala the various Marvel titles.

While I am sadly in agreement with you on your estimate of how long the series will last, I entirely disagree that it should have sprung out as a biproduct of "Blackest Night."

Firstly, L.E.G.I.O.N. and R.E.B.E.L.S. never really had anything to do with the Green Lanterns or the Green Lantern Corps.

Secondly, this book is part of the new vanguard of DC's genre titles (i.e. Jonah Hex, House of Mystery, The Warlord, etc.). A big part of the charm, besides the utterly excellent scripts and art, is that titles like those don't bother getting tangled up in big-time event books or crossovers, and are fairly new-reader friendly, as opposed to the majority of superhero books put out by the Big Two these days. That's why I do my best to support DC's genre books.

We need more variety in the medium, and supporting R.E.B.E.L.S. is the perfect way to do it.

    Guys.

Keep spreading the word of mouth.

You would be surprized how well the good word can spread.

I think DC should create a DC Mature line for themselves. This way they can keep books like Jonah Hex , R.E.B.E.L.S and Warlord running. And the books can have all the wild bloodshed, voilence , sexual situations and be a part of the DCU.

Something has to be really special for word of mouth to save it. Now, I havent read #3 yet, but IMHO, this series isnt that kind of special. Its been ok, but nothing near a MUST buy. It's just decent. Word of mouth isn't enough for a "decent" book.

I hope it sticks around for awhile. I dig what Tony is doing with Vril and would like to see where it goes.

This, and supporting the book with your dollars and cents is about all you can do. Well, that, and enjoying the ride while it lasts.

R.E.B.E.L.S. is a good book. Let's hope it lasts.

won't work. Shoters legion had this going, and they still cancelled it.

    - the legion ladies were hot...
    - virtual reality villains with the ability to wipe out an entire system...
    - lightning lad, saturn girl and ultra boy had a triangle going on...

I think it to me has to do with "Name Brand" myself. The 1st REBELS series only lasted 16-18 issues in the mid 90's. And it was a spinoff of L.E.G.I.O.N and came outta the ZERO HOUR launch of books.

I think had Tony called this L.E.G.I.ON , sales would have been a lot higher. Since it has more of a name brand behind it.

Well Shooter's run was screwed up do to editoral to be honest. He pitched an 18 issue storyline and was later told that it was being shortened by a few issues. Then was told his series was cancelled at #50 due to them going back to the old LSH. In all his run wasn't cancelled due to sales , it was just DC cancelling it for the return of the old LSH.
