She had just absorbed Hecatomb, so she was basically lost inside her own mind, now residence of other eight billion minds.
SAM: Penny for 'em.
ROGUE: What?
SAM: Your thoughts. Usual market price.
ROGUE: This is-- where she lived. That's all I'm thinking. This is somewhere Rogue thought of as home.
SAM: You really don't think yourself as-- being Rogue?
ROGUE: Sometimes. Sometimes not. She's in here somewhere. But she can barely make herself heard. Too many voices. Most of them shrieking or pleading. She's-- trying, but she's not-- holding together all that well.
At this poin, Sam puts his hand on her shoulder.
ROGUE: You shouldn't do that, Guthrie. If I turn my head too quickly-- if my sking touches yours-- you're dead.
SAM: Ah know it. You're not alone, Rogue. We're not gonna stop comin' at this thing until we fix it. Mah word on that. Cyke and the others're downstairs. But you take your time. They'll wait.
It was a good speech, but in the end, I still see them as good friends. 90s, Bobby went on a roadtrip with Rogue, and was there for her. I see him more as a friend though. She's the type who gets along with guys without being their boyfriend, one of the guys. well, that's how I see it :P

I agree about Rogue easily getting along with the boys but think there is a possibility of romance with Sam. I always felt that Rogue relationship were in these stages -
- Cody - childhood friend with experimentation
- Longshot - first crush
- Gambit - that crucial first love, passionate and ever so stressful and yet sweet
I think Rogue still has room for her true soul mate and would like to see if Sam can fill that slot.
New Mutants week bump!
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.
I would let Sam Guthrie do dirty dirty things to me.
WHAT? who said that?

Cannonball respectttttttt.
My first, and most extensive, exposure to Cannonball was during his stint as the youngest X-Man on the main team in the 90s. I really liked his story with Iceman going undercover in Creed's campaign and overall he just seems like a character I'd really like since I tend to prefer take action, heroic leader types best(plus he can fly and be slightly rebellious).
But, I never got into the New Mutants cast too much. They were already X-Force when I started reading comics and that wasn't a book I followed at all. Since I've been in the market for some new trades, here's a question for all the fans; who wrote the best Cannonball? What arcs/runs on which titles feature him doing his thing most prominently?
