Yuck. Not an attractive cover at all. And not just because "Skulls are creepy". There's just very little to look at, it's kind of murky and not visually engaging, and well... its utterly predictible.

I love it. I really feel it captures the tone of what we know of the Black Lanterns thus far.

It does look better than the pencil sketch released a few days ago seemed to indicate, but I'm still not impressed and hopeful there's a variant. Doesn't matter, though; Blackest Night #1 could feature Bea Arthur and the Golden Girls on the cover and I'd still pick it up.

Right ? How else would he relate to Blackest Night ? He has the Black Lantern emblem as his belt buckle

Actually, as long as they were skulls, maybe that would be kind of cool!

Maybe that skull face is Nekron. He is the lord of the unliving after all and i believe Krona is also involved in blackest night. The only reason why suddenly the TPB of green lantern : in brightest day and the tales of the green lantern corps had krona stories.

So the point of BLACKEST NIGHT is that a giant skull is gonna eat Lantern rings?

Well, so much for buying all those comics since I can predict the whole point of the event now.
