I have any number of concept-based problems with bringing Barry Allen back, but having read this first issue, I've got to say the story was quite good. It's odd, though, that #1 made me suspect that Barry will not be the Flash when this miniseries wraps. Or perhaps that's just wishful thinking.

    Uh, no. Wally did. Twice.

Clearly, Wally is not a man.

Being of very traditional, slightly repressed values, Linda first learned this because Wally talks in his sleep.

If it was the return of Barry Allen I would say maybe but Flash Rebirth kinda is a tell.

"Rebirth" could refer to a new era in Wally's career. Though I'll admit it's a stretch.

loved the first issue. The speed force is such a fascinating idea and one unique to the flash mythoes. I hope johns continues to use it to the advantage of the characters.

news just in: This issue has sold out. second printing on the way.

That was a very short interview with little insight or info. I hope there will be a better one on the way. CBR usually does a lot better.

I don't see that line in the interview. Was it altered?

The guys at my LCS recced this title to me, but after glancing through it I just couldn't bring myself to buy it. I just never cared that much for Barry Allen. He was at his most interesting when he was dead. Personally, I'm hoping that when this series ends we're back to one Flash and it's Wally.

I think he took that from what Bart said in the issue.

I really don't like the idea of bringing back Barry Allen. He hasn't been the Flash since 1986 and he wasn't the most interesting character then (I'm old enough to remember). Wally has brought the Flash legacy forward so far that we're better off with Barry dead. We don't even need an old, retired flash. Jay fills that role just fine.

If at the end of this, Barry is the Flash, it will be very disappointing. Bringing back Hal was fine, since he had left only a decade earlier and had been around in various guises (not to mention that the Parallax story was one most people were hoping people would be erased). Bringing back Barry is a completely different story.
