An RPG company I've done occasional writing work for has asked me to post this:

    ---------------
We have several plot-point compaign settings and adventures currently in production.

Primarily what we are seeking right now is the ability to draw Noir with a touch of the supernatural. Prospective artists must understand Noir lighting and shading, and be able to draw a variety of mundane and supernatural elements. The products contain ac combination of Noir photography and art, so the art must have clean lines able to compliment the included photos.

The art will be simple scenes (like a Patchwork Man bartender cleaning a glass as he listens to an average Joe), a hitman slithering under a door toward his target, et cetera.

The job pays $40 per piece [note from me: The checks I've gotten are always on time]

    Contact lee@arborproductions.com with any questions.

Cock of the Walk Comics – The Beginning

July 28, 2008. Cock of the Walk Comics officially comes into fruition today. C.o.t.W. is first and foremost looking for talented creators to bring to the C.o.t.W. label. C.o.t.W. is looking for all sorts of different genres to publish, and will not discriminate on the genre you submit. As long as it is well written, we’re interested.

Cock of the Walk will publish via print on demand, unless of course the creators of the comic are interested in printing it up in advance. If that is the case, however, we will have to advise you that whilst Cock of the Walk can and will help you promote your comic and market it, we cannot pay your printing costs, and this is entirely up to the creator(s).

Cock of the Walk is also considering the options of soliciting an anthology, with proceeds going towards leukemia and cancer charities.

Cock of the Walk is also in need of “backroom” staff. Editors, designers, etc., who are willing to help in the day-to-day running of the company. Whilst C.o.t.W. is an online entity, we will still need a committed staff to help run the company.

Those interested in submitting to Cock of the Walk (whether it be pencils, inks, lettering, scripts or a completed project) please contact submissions.cotwcomics@gmail.com.

Those interested in a role to do with the running of the company; please send an email to general.cotwcomics@gmail.com, with a brief rundown of what you believe you can bring to the company.

One more thing that should be added is that all creators will retain the rights to their stories. We would eventually like to create our own “universe”, with characters from many creators, but this is a long-term goal that will not come into fruition for some time.

Thank you for your time, we look forward to hearing from you, and keep an eye out for a website and forums in the coming weeks.

    Cock of the Walk Comics.

I'm for all genres Supernatural, Crime, Superhero, Political, etc. I can't pay, but I promise my ideas will be worth the time put in.

Default Looking for talent for a web magazine of short comics

Hey, I'm LibertyCabbage, author of a few obscure webcomics out there, and I'm back at it again, teaming up with Slitwrist Studio ( http://www.slitwriststudio.com ) to do a collab project I've had rolling around the back of my mind for a while.

This project, as I've conceived it, will be a continuous collection of short comics, ranging from one to ten pages in length each, that will be published in groups as a monthly update (sort of like a web magazine). Each monthly update will feature about five shorts, give-or-take depending on the lengths of the submissions.

    What we're looking for are:

    - writers to submit comics scripts in length ranging from a minimum of one page to a maximum of ten pages.
    - artists willing to contribute their skills towards making the comics, whether it be in pencils, inks, colors, lettering, or any combination of the above.

I'll be serving as editor for the project, selecting the best scripts and artists in order to ensure a high level of quality, and I'll be working with Slitwrist to scrounge the Web for interested talent.

    Some details:

    - There is no limit or restriction on content or style of the comics as long as it's tastefully done. Be creative!
    - There is no restriction to size or format of the pages.
    - All contributors will get full credit and ownership of their work, as well as having links to their personal site displayed to help promote their other work.
    - Unfortunately, there are no plans at this time to give payment for any contributions. However, this project might help you get exposure and experience as well as feedback to help you improve your skills. Also, you'll be able to make good comics and express yourself without the hassle of having to look for others to work with.
    - Keep in mind that to ensure quality of content, not all contributors will be accepted. However, I will try to give helpful feedback to anyone who's not accepted.
    - Artists will be given a script or choice of scripts to work on. However, if they don't want to work on the script/s they can turn them down and wait for something they like better to come along. Also, artists can specify certain kinds of genres/styles they'd prefer to work with as well as a general comic length they prefer to work with.
    - Artists can draw their own scripts, although it's recommended that they submit the script for approval before drawing it.
    - We're looking for new content created exclusively for this project. So, we prefer that you don't submit anything that's already been published in print or on the Web.
    - As editor, I'll be proofreading the scripts for changes to spelling and grammar, although no changes will be made without the writer's permission.
    - I will likely be contributing scripts and/or artwork at some point.
    - You can send in as many scripts as you want as long as none of them are any longer than ten pages. Also, artists can apply to work on multiple comics if they wish to.
    - If I think of anything else, I'll add it to this list!

If you're interested in contributing, please send your submission (or any questions) to libertycabbage@hotmail.com :

Writers - Send a one-to-ten page script that contains the name you'd like to be credited as, an e-mail address for me to contacted you with, and a personal website you'd like to promote (if applicable).

Artists - Send some examples of your work or a link to an online portfolio. Examples of previous comic work a plus! Also, specify what area/s of artwork you'd like to contribute (pencils, inks, colors, lettering, or all of the above).

Thanks for reading this, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Default Anyone want to enter the Zuda.com comic contest with me?

    Hi everyone,

I am looking to see if any artist/inker would like to possibly enter the Zuda.com (DC Comics) contest with me? According to the rules and entry form we would submit 8 pages and possibly have the chance to tell our story in an additional 52 pages.

The story itself is a horror/comedy in the tradition of a Troma like film.

Any monies received would be spilt 50/50. My contributions would include writing of the script, coloring and lettering. Your contributions would be artist/inker/separations.

Below you will find the first few pages of a film script I wrote about 4 years ago. It’s currently in film style, but if I am able to find a collaborator, I will adapt it to an 8 page comic book script. Please note I crossed out the course language, but it would remain in the final, unless Zuda (DC Comics) asks us to clean it up.

    SCRIPT
    FADE IN:

EXT. MILL RECYCLING CENTER - NIGHT

A small stationary work trailer is covered in snow. An old sign is hanging on the side which reads “Mill Recycling Center.” The A forest as well as a chain linked fence surround the trailer. Stacks of bottle and aluminum cans are stacked in separated piles as well as newspaper. A tree shredder can also be is parked at a side.

Light from a television can is leaking through the windows. Static from the T.V. is barley audible.

    INT. WORK TRAILER - NIGHT

Garbage covers what appears to have once been a desk. Flies roam over the half eaten food which lies next to a garbage can. Beer bottles are scattered throughout the place.

We hear the television static growing louder as we see an old man lounging in a torn up recliner chair. He is staring at the television with a beer in one hand and his d_ck in the other.

We now see what the old man is watching, or at least trying to watch. It is a porn channel which has not been descrambled. The old man gets excited as what appears to be a breast flashes across the television in a swamp like green color.

    OLD MAN
Yeah b_tch, that’s what I like. Show me some t_tties.

We now know the old man is using this time to j_rk off. A female a_s flashes across the television as well a second of audible sound in which we can hear a woman moaning.

    OLD MAN
    A_s is good too, sk_nk.

The old man is stroking harder and harder. His chair begins to shake and he begins to moan. He now looks like he is having a stroke, but it’s just him j_rking off. Right when he is about to climax the television’s power goes out.

    OLD MAN
Son of a bitch! Goddamn it!

He throws his beer bottle across the trailer in anger. He quickly stands up and readjusts his pants. Tightening his belt around his waist we see him begin to kick some of the garbage around.

    OLD MAN
This is bullsh_t! Perfect f_cking timing. F_ck! Just great!

He sticks his hand in to a pile of litter he has just moved around.

    OLD MAN
    There you are.

He pulls out a MAGlight flashlight and checks to make sure it still works properly. He quickly turns it on and off and back on again.

He walks towards the front of the trailer, grabbing a jacket and throwing it on. He opens the front door and exits.

EXT. MILL RECYCLING CENTER – NIGHT

The old man stumbles out of the trailer as if the beer is just now catching up with him. He shines the flashlight to one side of the trailer and makes his way over. He is now at the fuse box, and opens it to investigate.

    OLD MAN
    What the hell?

He pulls out a Christmas tree branch and holds it up to his flashlight.

    OLD MAN
Son of b_tch. How’d that get in there?

He checks the fuses and quickly turns the power back on.

    INT. WORK TRAILER - NIGHT

The old man reenters the trailer and takes his jacket off hanging it on the coat rack. He makes his way over to the fridge and opens the door. He grabs a beer, biting the cap off, and downs the entire bottle. He grabs another beer, again bites the cap off and goes back to the reclining chair.

The television is back on and breasts appear in a mix of haze and static.

    OLD MAN
Hey bitch. I have something for you.

He begins to reach in his pants grabbing his d_ck. As he is about to whip it out a loud bang is heard from outside.

    OLD MAN
    Mother f_cker!

The old man set’s his beer down and walks over to the window. Not being able to see anything in the dark, he grabs the flashlight and shines it outside through the window. After a moment of panning the light around he notices a Christmas tree lying in the snow outside.

    OLD MAN
What in blazes? Oh this is just bullsh_t.

He chooses to ignore the fact that a Christmas tree is now lying in the snow directly in front of the trailer. He begins to make his way towards the reclining chair, when again a loud bang can be heard from outside. The old man rushes back to the window. He again shines the flashlight outside. This time the tree is gone. In its place is nothing more that an indent in the snow.

    OLD MAN
    F_cking kids.

The old man grabs his jacket and throws it on. He also grabs a baseball bat which is hanging on the wall. He exits the trailer.

EXT. MILL RECYCLING CENTER – NIGHT

The old man makes his way outside of the trailer. He shines the light where the tree was as he walks over to the indent. One there the old man notices pine needles lay in the indent.

He looks around in all directions.

    OLD MAN
Listen here you little pr_ck f_cks! I don’t give a flying f_ck if you faggits want to steal trees. I could really give a flying faggit f_ck-f_ck.

The old man continues to shine his flashlight in all directions, but now taking more aim into the wooded area.

    OLD MAN
You want to steal trees, fine! Just don’t do it when I am trying to see some t_tty!

Like a ghost in the machine, the tree shredder turns on.

    OLD MAN
Oh bullsh_t. I tried to be cool. I tried to be hip maduf_ckers!

The old man is now holding up the baseball bat halfway above his head. He walks over to the tree shredder.

    OLD MAN
    You think this is funny?

He now looks into the entrance of the tree shredder.

    OLD MAN
Bullsh_t is what it is. Bullsh_t.

Just then he is pushed into the tree shredder. We cannot see who or what has pushed him, but we know he was pushed. He tumbles and turns feet first. He begins to scream not only in fear but in pain as he slowly slides into the blades. Blood and human meat are now shooting out of the tree shredder. More blood than imaginable. Flesh is flying threw the air at rapid speed. He tries to pull himself out, but it’s no use. His own body weight is now his worst enemy.
His chest is now being shredded. Now his arms are sucked up. Finally his head is swallowed into the blades and a loud “squish” is heard as if Gallagher had just smashed a watermelon. The old man had kept screaming until there was no more of him left.

We see a Christmas tree shacking and the sound of laughter, standing over the tree shredder. Blood covers it's branches.

Default Looking for artist for my script

Hi all, I'm new to CBR. I'm looking for an artist for a script I've written. I'd like to find an artist to read my script and see what he can do and if interested I'm offering 50/50 co-ownership if we can get the comic published. The script is darker and I'm proud of it. I've given it to many people including my screen writing professor and gotten very positive feedback. I can't offer any money because right now but like I said I offer co-ownership and splitting any money made if published. You can PM me or email me at kal09@mts.net

Please read entire post before submitting...

Hey guys, we've filled our stable of print titles but we're expanding into webcomics as well. Unfortunately only our print creators are paid, our webcomic creators are not paid. We do however promise a ton of exposure when we launch in January. We have a solid, experienced crew of editors and plan a solid launch with strong financial backing, all of which is going into marketing our creators.

If you have a title that you'd like exposure on, let us know! We'll get it on our website and promote the hell out of it! We do NOT want super-hero titles, but we'll consider any other genre. Here's the one caveat, the pages must be 750px W x 500 px H. There's no exceptions, you'll have to adapt. Please, only send us a brief synopsis of your title at this time. If we are interested we'll request more information. If you must send us actual pages to look at please send links only, no attachments.

You must write "webcomic" in subject line or it will be deleted. Thanks

Default On Warren's Advice: Let's Form A Band

From Warren Ellis' Bad Signal email "Building The Imperfect Beast"...
Okay, I'm pretty sure I did do this last year, but I think it's reconfigured in my head since then. So.

What you need is one writer and three artists. Essentially, you decide to Form A Band.

And you decide up front that all the money from the anthology comic is divided 4 ways equally. This is for simplicity's sake -- people argue this point with me all the time, but I have had publishers say to my face that they avoid anthologies, especially creator-owned ones, because THE SUMS ARE TOO HARD. Keep it simple. 25% for everybody.

What you're going to do, you see, is one writer writing three serials for three artists.

You're doing a two-dollar book. That's FELL format. A 24pp unit, all on the same paperstock, including covers. "Guts" of 20pp, with the "cover", constituting 4pp, wrapped around it, yes?

Three 6pp episodes is 18 pages. Your cover and inside front cover for indicia etc are 2pp. So that leaves you 4pp, including the back cover, to play with. Use them to interleave the serials, use them as backmatter, let the artists take turns doing full-page pieces, whatever.

The cover art is a rotating job between the three artists.

Collect it every six months as a 128pp book (therefore still splitting everything four ways) or collect each serial on its own as best fitting (each book therefore splitting 50/50). (As is blatantly obvious, but people like to ask these questions instead of thinking for themselves.)

Go and do it. I need something to read.

Form a band, boys and girls. Form a band.
I've been meaning to pull something together along these lines for awhile now. Then the latest Bad Signal email from Ellis shows up in my inbox this morning. I figure this could serve as the kick in the ass to actually get working on such an endeavor.

It's pretty straight forward -- I'm a writer looking for three artists to "form a band." Hit me back if you're interested or have any questions. Thanks.

    Default Looking for Artist(s)

Looking for artists who would like to work on any of the following projects:

-A (not so ordinary) vampire story. Art for this would be realistic and gritty, a dark feeling.

-A teen superhero team story (a la Teen Titans/Young Avengers). Artwork for this would need to be more teen-orientated, with a general "younger" feel to it.

-A vigilante superhero story. Artwork would need to be gritty, yet still a nice superhero-ish style.

If you're interested please contact me via philsmith69907@gmail.com

    Thanks, guys. :)
