How do you view the X-Men as a group when writing them? Are they friends, family, co-workers, or an army? Is there a core group anymore in your mind?

Like a family that's been drafted all at once. Like the Corleone boys sitting around the dinner table at the end of “Godfather II” or something. Families aren't forged by the good times, you know? And things are grim for mutantkind right now. More grim than ever. Scott's leading the fight for the survival of an entire species – that's gonna bring out all kinds of dynamics. I love figuring out how the characters react to one another reacting: Nightcrawler and Emma, Beast and Angel, Scott and...everyone.

The core group is irrevocably tied to screen-time and popularity, I think. They resonate because they're great characters, you know? For me, the core of this group right now is Scott. All these stories are unfolding from him right now...

On another note, I find it odd that Matt Fraction is incapable of saying Storm. Or any X-Woman besides Emma when he rattles off X-Characters.

On another note, I have little interest in Psylocke at this time. Sorry, Psylocke fans. I could dig her in X-Force, though. But I will hold out for hope something interesting may happen.

The Sisterhood are trying to resurrect Jean for some nefarious purpose, so they're digging Revanche up and resurrecting her first. This brings Psylocke back. It's not really about writing Psylocke. I'm sure Fraction doesn't give a flying fuck about characterizing her, though she'll provide nice visuals for his big Sisterhood cat fight. It's really ALL about Jean -- which is another way of saying that for Fraction it's all about Scott/Emma.

Finally looks like Archangel makes an appearance in Uncanny.

I like his suggestion that Maddie is still dead. With the two Wyngardes in the Sisterhood, they could be using her as a red herring.
