She should be involved in Dark Reign, keeping an eye on the Dark Avengers and Norman and serving with S.W.O.R.D. (is that still active?)

Or maybe guest star on Secret Warriors, Mighty Avengers, or the Cosmic books. I can really see her working with Fury to recapture SHIELD and make sure the U.S. government and law enforcement is not screwing the people.

Warren wouldn't be able to go full on Dirk, but can you imagine a better straight man than Nick Fury for this Group?

Monica is one of my favorite characters, but I don't want her to be affected by the drastic changes Marvel puts in place so often. So I'd rather she sit out until they can tell stories without somebody losing their powers, having an identity crisis, or dying.

JK, of course. (Maybe.) I'd love to see her on an Avengers team again.

I want to see Monica Rambeau absorb the Phoenix Force-- she could do for sure, and she would be more powerful than ever.. ah.. an omega-level non-mutant hero..

The further Monica is from Phoenix the better off she is.

And yeah, that might have been a jab at Arizona too.

ha. i meant to post about Monica but couldn't find the thread. i thought about her a lot when i was visiting my relatives/during mardi gras. Monica isn't at all reflective of the city she hails from unfortunately. it's a very culture-intensive environment. the n'awlins i experienced wasn't the commercialized version that you'd be familiar with from movies. local black (and creole) people sort of created their own version of mardi gras (see: zulu parade). it's unlikely that Monica will ever represent that side of things; nothing wrong with her being kind of conservative. so i almost wish that there was another superheroine from the area; someone a little flashier. if Monica ever dies, maybe she could be resurrected as the Voodoo Queen (Sista Voodoo, or something similar).

Ugh. That's why I like Monica so much: she's not some damned New Orleans stereotype. You won't find any real voodoo or Cajuns in New Orleans.

That could be interesting if a writer actually did something with her New Orleans roots

Is she too powerful, or is that an excuse by unimaginative writers?

What would you have Marvel do with Monica?
We would luv a team collective of "Marvels" including Monica Rambeau(former Capt Marvel), Ms Marvel, Black Marvel, Capt Marvel(current) & Blue Marvel all on 1 team as an ongoing buk with Rambeau as leader.

I've had this idea for a Monica mini series for a long time now, and I think it'd be great to re-establish her in the MU.

Monica gets assigned to be the Initiative hero for New Orleans (a solo hero separate from the state team a'la Falcon, Blue Shield, Darkhawk, etc.) and decides that she wants to get back to her law enforcement roots, so she becomes a private detective as well as the registered hero for the city.

Of course the local cops are sore that they have their very own personal super hero watching out for them (makes them feel incompetent and a little jealous, of course) and they don't quite respect her or help her out initially. She has few friends left in the harbor patrol where she used to work, but luckily they're around to offer a kind word.

Monica must also deal with assisting her mother Maria, who is all alone in her big house following the death of Monica's father. Torn between her responsibilities as a daughter and a hero, Monica has a ton of difficult choices to make.

In the midst of the personal crises comes a turf war between two rival gangs that want to take over the Hurricane ravaged burroughs of New Orleans and use them as their own "districts" for individuals like them once the reconstruction process is complete.

On one side are a family of Southern vampires whose hatred for humans is only eclipsed by their hatred for African Americans, as their clan dates back to the pre-Civil War era.

On the other side are a gang of regular humans that seem to have super powers, which are in reality mystically augmented abilities given to them by the demoness and Ghost Rider villain Diabolique, who looks like a six-year-old girl and wants to stake a claim in our dimension again to try and become a prominent force of mystical evil.

After such a mini series, she could easily transition into a regular role in Avengers: The Initiative or Mighty Avengers. What do you think?
    Hmmm...not bad, though d gangs thingy feels a lil 2 Luke Cage-esh.

Hudlin's Sun goddess angle is sweeet & wouldnt mind seeing him write Rambeau.

Hmmm...isnt Storm/Queen Ororo sumtimes referrd 2 as d Sky goddess?

    Perhaps Ororo & Rambeau can pair-up as a duo & b in a single buk 2gether.

I wouldn't do anything with her... There is no story that requires her at the moment & no need to shoe-horn in another character into one of the overloaded team books. Wait until there is a book where she could shine written by writers not phoning it in.
