Friend, does it need to be said that you wont find any REAL voodoo anywhere... Its Voodoo, a creation of superstitious minds trying to forge a universal law, without means of the scientific methodology. By extension it cannot be REAL, as its not actually founded in reality. Sure it works in the comics books, but not so very much in the real world.

Not trying to nit-pick but i do feel that it needs to be said. Its right up there with aura reading, homeopathy & big foot on the list of fun ideas we once held to be true, now debunked as nonsense

Superstitions are real, regardless of the physicality of them. By "real voodoo" I meant the practice of and belief in it. Voodoo in New Orleans is pretty much only a tourist thing and historical curiosity.

which is completely irrelevant since i was making the connection between Monica and her on-again-off-again suitor; Doctor Voodoo (practicioner of the very comic book real voodoo). Monica has that magic in her; according to Dracula. but i'm fine with her as she is now. i'm just waiting for someone to make her commercially viable.

Monique needs to have a prominent role in this apparently upcoming 'captain marvel' storyline in the Avengers books.. but I don't want her to be "sacrificed" to make room for "one, true capt. Marvel" that would be infuriating..

Would be nice but Marvel seems interested in showing their characters appearing in movies, Bendis pet characters, as the main Avengers in all the promos.

If it has anything to do with "[anything] Marvel" isn't not an upgrade for her. The only way she's going to stop being an alsoran is if she stops filling other characters' shoes.

As far as I'm concerned they're all still floating in that city in the sky, hanging out, drinking beer, kicking the crap out of Aaron when need be. And that purported "death of Boom Boom" thing was nothing more than a construct left over by the Beyond Corporation, and completely made of broccoli.

Okay 1st I'm going to say that most of my exposure to the character was during Roger Stern's Avengers run. So I really don't know if my problems with her might have been addressed since then.

Adding a black woman to the Avengers team was a great idea, especially on the team at the time which lacked diversity. Her power set is interesting. My problem was her personality, or lack thereof. The character had no conflict. Her parents were supportive and perfect. She seems basically perfect. Her powers are godlike. Where is the conflict? Also it was really odd the way she was so quickly made the leader of the Avengers, a team that had Thor, Captain America, Wasp and Black Knight...most of whom had served as team leaders and were much more experienced.

They tried to add a bit of conflict with Doctor Druid trying to undermine her as leader. But Dr. Druid is so unlikeable, it's all one sided. Again Monica is always right. Anyway that's how I remember it.

Make Monica a little less perfect and add a bit of conflict and we'll have a great character, but until that happens I'm not interested.
