Heath Ledger, the early favorite to win the 2009 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, has been posthumously presented with the award. Accepting for the actor were his father, mother and sister.

Congratulatons to Heath and his family...Heath did an incredible job in the Dark Knight...I couldn't take my eyes off him when he was on screen...his is the first Joker that totally terrified me...he totally deserved to win this award...congrats Heath, you will be missed.

The Joker totally deserves the Oscar. He would have had to go steal it if someone else won it anyway.

I still think Aaron Eckhart was better than Ledger in this movie. But as far as the nominees I'm glad Ledger won.

Fair enough. But taken just as a movie & performances, Eckhart was better than Ledger. And I'm not trying to be an ass. I thought his performance was better. Ledger was damn good but IMO Eckhart was better.

Eckhart didn't disappear into the role of Dent the way Ledger did with Joker. I thought they were both great performances, but completely different.
