OMG Millar and Hitch are going to be on Fantastic Four, and Jim Shooter is going to be on Legion Of Super-heroes. Moorison is going to be on Batman. Those are the ones I can think of.

All three of them were so hyped and all three of them were such disappointments for me. Can anyone else think of situations like this?

Andy and Adam Kubert at DC.

I liked what work they did produce, but the amount of work they produced didn't live up to the hype at the time their exclusives were announced.

Missed the last 4 years of DC Comics, did you....?

Seriously, pretty much every big event by DC from 52 on.... with the exception of Sinestro War. Though you could probably add in the last issue of Infinite Crisis which is where the big monkeywrench got tossed when Nightwing was not killed. (I'm glad he wasn't killed, but it was painfully obvious that the title of Nightwing wasn't prepared for his stay of execution.)

52 was not what was promised, which "threw off" the One Year Later storylines, which then snowballed into the craptacular Countdown, and then Final Crisis tried to (unsuccessfully) pick up the pieces. Once 52 went astray, it really trashed the line from a story-telling point of view.

52, while a good story and as I mentioned above, was not the story that was promised to the fans. Instead of explaining that "missing year", it went wildly off into a whole different direction. It literally took a year for the rest of the line to catch up, but by then it was too late for many titles and DC tried to "shoehorn" in 4 extra issues in an attempt to explain it (WWIII).

52 is the classic example of too many "primadonnas" and no one willing or able to control them on the editorial side of things.

Yeah, I agree that 52 wasn't what was promised (remember that Jack Knight appearance we were supposed to get?) but what we got still turned out to be an awesome series in my opinion.

I loved Final Crisis, but it shouldn't have been marketed as DC's big event because it didn't live up to that for alot of DC readers. Batman RIP, which I also enjoyed until the final few pages, also didn't live up to the hype since it required reading Final Crisis #6 for the real conclusion.

Alot failed to meet the hype at DC and its modtly the stuff that wasn't hyped, or hyped enough (Manhunter, Gail on Wonder Woman, Sinestro Corps War) that turned out best.

I'm going to assume Watchmen 2 was a joke on the basis that I don't feel like curling up into the fetal position and crying.

Hmm, I always thought a joke was supposed to be, you know, funny.

But, yeah, it's a lame attempt at a gag.
