Avengers Question and Answer Thread

I've got a question about the Bucky Cap costume... I'm just getting back into comics, but the past few years I remember Bucky becoming the new Captain America being a big deal. Bucky Cap was heavily featured and merchandised, he even just got a new Marvel legends figure. But after Fear Itself, is the Bucky Cap costume retired and defunct? I was surprised Steve didn't take it over, at least temporarily. Did Steve ever wear it?

No, Steve never wore the Bucky Cap costume. It was retired when Bucky returned as the Winter Soldier. It was last seen in Fear Itself #7.2 on his body.

Loki confuses me a bit so I thought I would ask the experts

He is Laufey's son correct... the former King of the Frost Giants. Lauffey was just ashamed of him because he was a runt basically correct?

So Loki has absolutely no Asgardian blood in him. He is pure Frost Giant, just a puny one. So why is he considered a God? Just because Odin raised him and said so?

So Loki's enhanced speed, durability, and strength (he has to have all these due to being able to stand toe to toe with Thor at the end of THOR) is due to his Frost Giant bloodline? Is it slightly enhanced because he is son of a King?

Has Loki ever tried to claim the throne of the Frost Giants in the comics?

Movie wise, does Lauffey know that Loki is his son? So did Loki kill his own dad in Thor?

Why are the volumes of Thor by Dan Jurgens so expensive? In store, they're usually $35 and even on Amazon.com most are above $20... but they were reprinted just last year, and are the same size as normal trades. What gives?

1. How long has 616 Hawkeye been dressing more like his Ultimate counterpart? I have to say Im glad he isnt in his classic look as I kinada think it looks ridiculous and is outdated

2. In AvX, Magik defeated Dr. Strange and she didnt have much trouble doing so. Thats not much of a surprise to me bc she's terribly underrated but what are his current power levels? Is he written as weak in the other titles?

3. Following his ressurection, where is Scott Lang?

4. Im thinking of going back to the beginning and reading the entire runs of the 3 current main Avengers series. How connected are they in terms of story? Can I read all of New in one run and then move to Secret and Avengers or should I be reading them all at the same time? Basically are there any crossovers and overlap between the series or do they stand up well on their own?

1. Since about the end of Fear Itself, but because he shows up in multiple titles it varies a bit.

2. Different writers have him at different power levels. He was struggling to use basic magic in Mark Waid's Doctor Strange mini. Brian Bendis just uses him for illusions and teleporting. Cullen Bunn and Jeff Parker both write him as a fairly strong magician.

3. He hasn't appeared in any titles yet, but he's scheduled to show up soon in Defenders.

4. Secret mostly stands on its own, read it whenever you feel like it. Avengers and New Avengers are a bit more connected, but as long as you read the H.A.M.M.E.R. issues together you should be fine. Avengers and New Avengers both operate in six-issue arcs, so read all the Heroic Age stuff together (any order), then the Fear Itself issues, then H.A.M.M.E.R.

I think so yea.

Basically. And he was worshipped as a deity on Earth in ancient times, along with Odin and Thor.

It's hard to tell. But i imagine the magic that Odin used on him to make him appear as an Asgardian gave him some Asgardian attributes. But he isn't as strong as Thor.

Probably not. But yea, Loki knew Laufey was his real father and still killed him.

Also, does Loki still have the Casket?

He froze the Bifrost chamber with the Casket, that's what that ice tree thing came from at the end of Thor. Thor then destroyed it so presumably the Casket was destroyed along with it.
