Cool Spider-Man: FACE FRONT (speculation and potential spoilers)

So what's the big "game changer" being promised by the solicits? Any guesses?

Here are the solicits as a reminder:

FACE FRONT Part 1 of 2
An adventure from Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four's past is about to have a profound effect on their future...That's if Spidey and the Torch can stop fighting long enough to notice! What's the cosmic-level rift that's dividing two of the Marvel U.'s best friends? Plus, a dark turn for Harry Osborn. A new role for Mr. Negative. And the start of a story that's going to effect almost every title at Marvel Comics! We kid you not!!!

Plus, life kicks into high gear for practically EVERY member of the supporting cast! Big changes, big surprises, and, like we promised: an event so HUGE, it's going to be felt in almost every Marvel title! This one's a gamechanger, Marvellites! Miss it and you'll miss out!
And even the issue following, the beginning of "24/7", reinforces this:

    AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #592
    Written by MARK WAID
    Penciled by MIKE MCKONE
    Cover by JOE QUESADA
Wolverine Art Appreciation Variant by PAOLO RIVERA
    "24/7," Part One!

In the aftermath of Spidey's Fantastic Four voyage, his whole world is turned upside down by the new rules of the world. The good news is that after all these years, Spider-Man finally gets the upper hand on J. Jonah Jameson--but it's gonna cost him, particularly with the all-new Vulture winging into town! Plus--Peter drops by Aunt May's house for the shock of his life! Set your faces to stun!

Peter drops by Aunt May's house for some wheatcakes, the doorbell rings, he answers it because Aunt May is waiting on him hand and foot, and a stunning Mary Jane Watson stands in the door saying, "Face it Tiger, you just hit the Jackpot, er, I mean jackpot!"

I'm curious more about the reason Spidey and the FF are teaming up. I mean... what do we actually know about the two-parter? They team up for some unknown reason, and then start fighting each other. Then there's supposedly some big hooplah that "changes everything". Oh, and apparently Harry and Mr Negative pop up.

That's not much information at all for readers to go by. Some people do need to place their monthly orders two months in advance.

I'd bet that as well for the #592 surprise. And I'm guessing that the "dark turn" for Harry means that he might have to turn to his father to get rid of Lily. But that doesn't explain what will happen between Spidey and the FF that's going to be so drastic.

I wouldn't expect them to spoil the whole story in the solicits. We know it's by Dan Slott and Barry Kitson and that it guest-stars the Fantastic Four. Honestly, I'd prefer that we DIDN'T know there's going to be some big thing happening, but after the Captain America thing I think Marvel wants to err on the side of caution.

I'm not asking for them to say what the big reveal is, but how about some actual information on the story itself? Unless the story is just "Spidey and the FF team up for no apparent reason", then it should at least say why they're teaming up. Are they fighting Galactus? Drax? Terrax? Or are they just having a picnic and Peter refuses to take his mask off to eat the pie?

I still don't get how the mayoral elections are going to affect alot of books.

Has the Mayor of New York ever really been of much importance in the MU? Hollister or Crowne don't seem particularly needed in much other places than Amazing right now.

On the team up story, definitely agreed with Matt. Whatever the hell it is, small surprise or not, I always like them to slap me upside the face when I'm not looking.

But ignoring the "big reveal", don't you want to know anything about the story itself other than Spidey teams up with the FF? Because that's all we know about it.

    Not particularly.

Most of the time I just check out the covers and ignore the text descriptions for some choice books (like Amazing) when solicitations come out.

For being able to do that on a book that comes out 3x a month, I envy you. I can only do this for Captain America... but still read them anyway.

I'm betting it relates to the Secret ID of Spider-man.
