Okay- I'm confused. i thought this was going to be a legion book. If it's something else, I'm not sure I'm interested. On the bright side, If Starman is going with him, maybe i can pick up JSA again. (Not that he was the reason I stopped, i just thought Starman kind of bugged me.)

I'm buying it because of the Francis Manapul art, but I hope it does not have that Super Dog crap in it.

It bothers me that they're not restoring its original numbering. It seems akin to giving Action Comics a new number 1 just to get a few extra sales.

I'm willing to bet good money on that being Kon-El in the middle..

now that we know that Starman is not digging up Bart in JSA its kinda clear ...
and given that #0 ended with a gigant picture of Kon :P

Yeah, I'm confused as well. The cover is clearly a homage to the first Legion tale, but the backup mentions Conner in it. Clearly nothing to do with the original story.

John and Manapul sell this title for me...will definitely be picking this up, although, like others have said, I hope this book focuses on the LoSH.

I agree with you on this. I've been a Legion fan since I was in the third grade (which would be about 30 years ago), and once DC's coyness about who exactly would be in the book made it clear to me that it WASN'T going to be strictly about the Legion, it went immediately off my pull list. The Legion has been getting dicked around for 20 years now; every time things start to look up the clock strikes midnight and the whole thing turns into a pumpkin because of some new dumbass editorial move. The final issue of the most recent LSH series was the last straw for me. Jim Shooter managed to turn the most unrecognizable and poorly-conceived interpretation of the LSH into something that actually felt familiar and confortable (without a freaking reboot, by the way), so of course they pulled the plug without letting him even tie up the loose plot threads. I don't give a rat's ass about Kon-L or Connor Kentor whoever, and even if the Legion is there, I'm not down with any format that doesn't involve them having a regular monthly title all to themselves. They have a huge cast of characters and anything less than a full-length monthly title is simply not enough, especially in this era where writing talent is apparently measured by how many issues you can take to tell a story that 20 years ago would have been told in only one or two.

And hey, if I'm wrong, and Adventure Comics actually DOES turn out to be a Legion title (as in they're the main feature and they get all 22 pages to themselves), fine, I'll just buy the trades. There is no way, after the number of colossal letdowns we've had to suffer, that I'm giving any new Legion project the benefit of the doubt, no matter who's writing or drawing it. Hell, Legion of 3 Worlds is freakishly late and so far underwhelming, and we're talking about Johns and Perez, about as close to a Legion dream team as, I don't know, Waid and Kitson should have been.
I've got a plan and it's here in my hand, a baton made of light.

This is going to be one of the best DC titles of 2009. I have several theories on how this will play out, but Johns and Manapual = Perfection. This title will essentially be Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes. How can anyone NOT want to read this?

If Conner Kent is the lead, then I'm definitely on board for this book. Getting Kon-El back is the only thing I want from DC, and to see that the art should be spectacular makes me even more excited.

As for this no longer looking like a Legion solo title, well, there had to be a reason this is called "Adventure Comics" and not "The Legion of Super Heroes." If DC can't keep their headlining book going, the next best thing is to have a place where they can appear whenever someone does have a good idea for them, to keep them in the public eye.

I think there's a Legion story we'll see in the next few years that covers the first Legion of Three Worlds get-together, simply because we saw so many details about that adventure in Lo3W #3. There are plans for the Legion, and letting Johns build another event around them, Flash-heavy though it looks like it would be, could make them high-profile enough to better support a solo ongoing once someone has a clear direction for them.

If the Conner Kent fans got through seeing him killed off with no apparent plans for revival, Legion fans can survive seeing their heroes biding time in an anthology series for a little while. And remember, as long as they keep popping up in Adventure, and Johns seems to have some plans for them, you won't have to worry about yet another reboot.

Yeah, I'd much prefer it if they picked up from the original numbering, too. If the book is going to feature a Starman, and if the beloved Krypto is back in ADVENTURE COMICS, too, it would be infinitely cooler to me if it was the return of the original series instead of just the return of the classic name of ADVENTURE.

I suppose it would be too much to have the original numbering in brackets in the indicia, at least. ADVENTURE COMICS No. 1 -- [No. 504 in the series].

Actually, its kind of nothing like that.

Adventure Comics hasn't been around for 20 years, its not as if they canceled it last month just to immediately relaunch with a new #1 for a sales boost...

What, you mean like how Batman has been starring in a title called "Detective Comics" for the last sixty-five years and how Superman has been in a title called "Action Comics" for even longer? They brought the "Adventure Comics" title back out of nostalgia, just like they've been "Re-Weisingerizing" the Superman mythos. Frankly, I'm surprised and disappointed that Superman/Batman didn't get titled "World's Finest."

Apples and Oranges. Meaning no disrespect to you (seriously), but that's a little like saying if Alpha Flight fans can sit and spin while that group stays in limbo, then Avengers fans should be able to deal with that book going on hiatus while Marvel tries to figure out how to screw them up even more. Conner Kent doesn't have the longevity that the Legion has, or the fan base, or the track record (which was actually pretty good until DC started to well and truly f&!k with it after Levitz quit. Not saying it won't be nice to have Conner back, not saying that at all. I am saying that over the long term the Legion is a bigger deal and has had a bigger impact than Conner has.
