I wish DeMatteis and Maguire were collaborating with Giffen as part of the creative team on Doom Patrol. It would be my automatic favorite series right now, though it has not even been published yet.
None the less, I'm buying issue #1 anyway, to give it a shot.
After reading JLI, the two Superbuddies series, and Ambush Bug, I will definitely be buying this.
I am game. Giffen has a pretty good career hit to miss ratio. I even kind of like the idea of having The Metal Men split the title, as they were always cool characters, but maybe not enough that people will buy a series.
The mad-scientist island storyline of 52 was a bunch of fun and this book should fit into that stuff quite well.
I am incredibly excited. Long live back-up stories!
Locke & Key, Saga, Thief of Thieves
Now this is the stuff I'm talking about. More alternatives and intresting stuff than just yawking it off an event. GO DC GO!
I only saw the beginning part of the subject line and thought that for a minute there that it was an announcement that Giffen was the new Editor in Chief! That said, I'm perfectly game for Doom Patrol!
I'm glad this if finally official after all the rumors and speculation, but I'm annoyed that they didnt name the artist. I can't tell if they do this because they're trying to keep a little mystery surrounding the title or if they're just throwing things together and don't even have a clue themselves yet.
Still, can't wait to see what Giffen does with the book and characters, this has the potential to become my new fave title.![]()
Im there, i just hope the series catches this time around![]()
if you ask me karl kerschl is perfect for this book. I would love to have him draw the doom patrol.

I'll be getting this. I'm glad they're focusing on the originals.
"I want to see beautiful people doing amazing things." - Grant Morrison
I think Gary Frank would be ideal. His realistic take would go a long way with the traditional creepiness.

Civilly disobeying the law of gravity.
I would like to see Mike Allred on it, but I don't think it's going to happen.
For some reason I feel his style perfectly captures the appeal of the odder aspects from the 60s DCU.
I am very excited Doom Patrol is coming back as a series again. Hopefully it can battle out with Booster Gold as which will be my favorite current ongoing DC Comics title.
