I wonder if Bendis read the Magik mini. While it was Amanda, that still involved Illy's sword and legacy (she needed Magik's name for respect), Sy'm and added another chapter to Limbo's legacy. It defined Limbo's and it's ruler's relationship with the other hell dimensions and lords.

I'll invoke Sanderson's laws of magic: Magik has defined powers, she can use them more often but they are more limited. Gandalf and friends use their powers rarely, but when they do people die. Or other people die. Her powers are sufficiently well defined to be completely abused, so I think she'd do fine in Middle Earth.
I would like to say for the record that this is the FIRST TIME I've withheld dong when someone was so desperately asking for some.

Out of the current team I think Illyana is the most skilled when it comes to hand to hand combat. So I could see her teaching that. It would be cool if she emulated Cat's teaching methods.

Actually, I really like the part of the interview where he talks about the question of how much she identifies as a mutant. It shows that he is aware of her status as an outsider among outsiders independant of the nastier things she's done. Granted it was the interviewer who brought it up, but he stayed on that one question for a while.
