If MArvel did a horror title that starred magik. would you all pick that up if it really didnt involve mutants much. Maybe do something similar to the night crawler series.

Part of what I love about Illyana is her interaction with the other X-Men etc.

My fondness for Illyana is newfound and rising sharply.

Despite being an X-fan since the late 80s, I never read the original New Mutants. As such, I was only aware of Illyana as a young girl, and not her teenage counterpart. So when the current New Mutants title started up, I gave it a shot, and wound up being intrigued. So thanks to the wonders of Trade Paperbacks and e-comics, I've been catching up on what I missed.

(Now I know why some fans were jarred by the transition from Claremont to Simonson. WHOA! Talk about a paradigm shifting w/o a clutch!)

Suffice to say, Illyana's arc is pretty much the most intriguing thing from the original series, and I'm glad it's returned. I have a slight preference for Orignal Teenage Illyana, as her struggle between innocence and power really drew me in. But Illyana 4.0's almost unrepenetant darkness has me perpetually waiting for the next shoe to drop.

Also, as a random aside, does anyone else think Illyana 4.0 and Doug 2.0 would make a truly *terrifying* evil couple? They both come across as so distant, almost soulless. Unlike their friends, they've literally been to Hell and back (on different metaphorical levels). I keep picturing Doug's newfound ingenuity combined with Illyana's dark mischievous streak bringing the world to swift ruin.
