Cool idea, Dave. The chess conceit is a neat way to frame things, especially the way the storyline is evolving.

I like when they do stuff like this. Like when they had the card-theme one for Secret Invasion.
This one was certainly a 'duh' one, but I look forward to the rest. Who are knights? Rooks? Bishops?..and so on.
Any way I can get a full wallsize "Fathead" of that Deathbird image?
Though as the cover of WoK and current issues of GotG tell us, there's a 3rd king on the playing field...King Blastaar!
Not entirely on topic, but wondering. Whatever happened to the Alpha Primatives?
I'm very interested in this series, but man, the cover art with Crystal and especially Lilandra is fast approaching the event horizon of Liefeldianess. Aside from the terribly drawn women it's a gorgous cover.

That's correct, but Blastaar refused to help Ronan when the Inhumans invaded and his assault on the Negative Zone prison is seemingly unsanctioned. Blastaar is nominally a Kree vassal, but his allegiance is suspect.
That said, for the purposes of something like this, I wouldn't be shocked to see Blastaar as one of Black Bolt's rooks.

Well we got the Bishops.
You know, for all his rep..has Gladiator ever actually won? He's the Big Show of the Marvel Universe
I wonder where Havok and Polaris will fall? Rooks or Knights?
