Looks good, Duane deserves a lot of credit for keeping up the quality of this title.

Nice. For some reason I'd love to see a short crossover between Duane's two books, Iron Fist and Cable. I just think it'd be a cool juxtaposition between this mystical kung-fu book and a hardcore sci-fi book like Cable.
Maybe if Cable Meets a future Iron Fist...but I don't know if Cable and Danny have any business hanging out. The characters have no reason to cross paths since they are on very different missions.
I can't wait for the issue, Duane has kept me on the edge of my seat since Fraction and Aja's stunning 16th issue. He didn't waste any time getting used to the character, the pacing or the feel of this book, he just hit it perfectly from the get go. He is using the tone layout by Fraction and Brubaker, and telling stories that reflect on Danny's actions very early on in his life as the Iron Fist.
Wow, i thought Foreman did a good-if-occasionally-too-dark job on the previous arc, but his art looks absolutely spectacular here! Almost a different style entirely.
Really looking forward to it!!!
Travel's not doing the covers anymore. :{

Maybe when the final assault of the Avengers with Rand and the X-men with Cable against Norman HAMMER and his Dark Avengers.
The inking on two of those issue was very dark, but the first and last issue of the previous arc looked very good. Hopefully we continue to see some more pencils like this through this 4 part story arc.Originally Posted by artiepants

I'm loving the fact that Fist is off in it's own corner of the universe for the most part, his return to an ongoing needed to focus on what makes the character work, Fraction, Brubaker and Sweirzynski have done a great job at doing just that.
I don't want it to tie-in too closely to the Dark reign stuff though. The book has worked well in its corner of the Marvel U. Could this be in a bid to up sales? I mean I have no problem with Danny acknowledging the current state of affairs, but subtly like Bru and Fraction did with Civil War during the first arc. I don't want the book to have to start relying on tie-ins to stay alive."As 2009 rolls on, “The Immortal Iron Fist” will become more and more concerned with the current events of the Marvel Universe, like Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign. “We kind of treat ‘Iron Fist’ as its own little thing right now. Apart from that very excited to see where this is going. I wondered why there was a flashback issue in the middle of the arc, but if its going to pay off in the long run then it should be good. Plus we get more insight into the "Hypnotic Fist Technique!" I have been craving for Danny to use it since the first arc.
^^ Roflz. Co-signed. By far, the worst issue of the Immortal Iron Fist was that futuristic one. Just saying.
Peace.
I don't want the book to have to rely on tie in's but I do have to say this period in marvel history is really cool. The bad guys are in charge, and I think it would be cool to see Fist interact with the universe and it's many changes right now. And to be completely honest I wouldn't mind a sales bump right now to get the numbers up a bit, and it isn't like Duane is going to phone it in, he's a Hell of a writer.
I wonder what lessons a Pacifist could teach a man who is trying to fight his way out of hell...but then again, maybe he will have to rely on other parts of his powers to escape.Apart from that very excited to see where this is going. It will be cool to see the Hypno Fist used again, I wonder if Danny is going to Obi-wan the New Avengers out of trouble with some Hammer soldiers in the future? "These aren't the Superheroes you're looking for."
I don't doubt that Duane could write a great story out of this current status quo and maybe the sales would increase, because I'm getting the feeling that they're sorely needed. However I kind of like the premise that Iron Fist and Daredevil do their own thing and fight their own rogues. Yes, the DR stories have been good so far, of those I've read, but I don't want every. Single. Marvel. Comic. To have Norman Osborn be the bad guy. I'm already sick of it. Its nice that IIF has its own agenda.
I too like Danny in his own part of the Mystical Kung Fu segment of the Marvel Universe. But with Danny's recent power and technique increase, it would be interesting to see how he would measure up to other top combatants in Marvel now.
Also it would be cool to see other Marvel martial arts masters in the series such as Shang Chi or Chi's nemisis, the Cat. Bru, Fraction, and Aja brought Iron Fist back, now I just want to see Iron Fist move up to an A or at least high level B character in the Marvel Universe.
