You think? Maybe Joe's appearance on CNN and all the press releases they sent didn't factor into the equation?

Say what you will about Quesada, but he's pretty damn good at getting mainstream coverage for Marvel. How many times has he been on CNN or Colbert in the last couple of years? Not to mention the write-ups on Marvel comics in papers like the New York Times.

Quesada gets hate, but I believe he saved Marvel Comics. He's not been perfect. OMD wasn't the right way to get Spidey to his new status quo, even though the book is better than it's been in a long time. The actual OMD arc wasn't the right way to go about it. That's an example.

But the guy is extremely smart. He knows how to get Marvel into the public eye and knows how to make Marvel look mature and part of today's world, which is something DC struggles to do. Marvel is more "hip" than DC, because of Quesada, I firmly believe. (The Batman movies, not withstanding -- the media didn't care about R.I.P.)

If it takes gimmicks like this to boost sales for Marvel, I'm okay with that, as long as they continue the quality at which they are putting out right now. The company is keeping things constantly fresh and it's constantly changing, which is a good thing.

The fact that they are going to a second print already just shows how smart Quesada. You have to hand it to him, even if you disagree with something like OMD.

So wait, is this 2nd printing going to be out... next Wednesday? Or after that? If so, has a comic ever had a second printing on the day of release? Haha.

Looks like I have three covers to get now.

    Default Zombie Variant?

Surely the Obama Zombie variant cover can't be far behind, can it?

    Or is it already here?

Way to alienate part of your established customers. Does anybody think this will bring in a steady stream of regular readers? Or is this just a way to milk the cashcow for a week?

The whole giving Obama a role in the issue. It's not really that big of a deal, but it feels like we're having Marvel's political views crammed down our throats. But hopefully, it's just a one time thing.

Ahhh, I get it now. I imagine it'll be a one time thing. In Spidey comics, at least.

I think the Obama thing is just a backup story. The main tale is Peter going on a date and something about Betty Brant.

It's a 5 page back up! People like you really need to relax.

Not to mention, it's not having their political views crammed down our throats. If McCain were as loved and as popular as Obama and won the presidency and said he read Spidey comics, you'd be seeing him instead. And that's a fact.

When people say things like "it's not really that big of a deal," that generally means they are relaxed.

Well, no, it's not a fact, it's a pretty reasonable prediction that I'd bet money on, but it's not a fact. Facts can be proven.

    Same here.

Which is why my copy will hopefully still be there Wednesday.

Been looking forward to this issue for awhile.
I'm beginning to think that Hell is a comic book forum.
