This list is so, so wrong on so many levels. Hulk and All-Star Batman are in no way better than Captain America, New Avengers or Astonishing X-Men.
This just in: Chris Sprouse has pulled out of Orson Scott Card.

In what backwards world is HULK better than CAPTAIN AMERICA? Seriously, what kind of brain-dead simpletons made this list? Did Captain America have too many words for it to be enjoyable? Not enough splash pages, unresolved cliffhangers, deus ex machinas?

Thanks for telling me that All-Star Batman is better than Blue Beetle, and Secret Invasion is better than Kevin Huizenga's Ganges. I never would have guessed otherwise.

Wow, OK, by what your saying then NO list generated by any site or publication has any merit? The purpose of lists like this is to spotlight a diverse group of product, or in this case, comics. The rankings are purely based on the votes of those who contributed -- maybe one person didn't vote for Ganges because they didn't actually read it. The fact it made it on to the list is a GOOD thing -- it means more people will learn about it than before.

You don't need to be told what the best things are -- you read a list to see what they thought, what their comments are and to learn about books you may not have been exposed to before.

You guys can disagree with a list, that's fine, but some of the personal comments and attacks clearly show you don't quite understand the purpose or nature of these lists.

    seriously.

Hulk and ASBAR are like the kind of comics/juvenile power fantasies that give comics a bad name. and REALLY ASBAR should have been disqualified for it's shipping "schedule" alone.

Hulk, too. Didn't this volume start last year and they've only produced nine issues?

If the shipping issues were the only thing wrong with these books, then sure, yeah, fine. But All-Star Batman and Hulk are just so vomit-inducing they belong on "Worst of..." lists with series like Ultimates 3. Admitting that you think anything presently produced by the minds of Loeb and Miller -- both of whom are far beyond their glory days -- is better than something like Brubaker's Captain America or many of the other books ranked lower on the list clearly shows a lack of understanding of good storytelling.

But you did already know that they were more popular.

I was gonna come on here to post about the stupidity of Hulk being above Captain America.

Seems like I was beaten by like minded posters.

Oh stop. What gives comics a bad name are people like you who act above certain things.

Hulk is great. It's hugely fun and entertaining every single month it comes out.

On that note, putting it above Captain America of Nova is flat out stupidity.

The Captain America thing really is surprising. And I don't even read it regularly. It just gets such good press, from an unusually broad spectrum of readers.

Super hero books dropped off my radar a long time ago. I'd much rather read indi and alternative stuff any day. Especially if the art is good. That's why Disappearance Diary caught my eye in this batch of reviews. I'll definitely check it out in my LCS in the near future. What I don't get is lumping all the Mignola/Hellboy/BPRD stuff together. Why aren't the list compilers lumping the combined titles of other writers/collectors together?
    Recent Nature Sightings:
Sept 24: Two Orcas close to shore.
Nov 14: Trumpeter Swans, Bald Eagles catching salmon (and a duck!), Harbour Seals, Steller Sea Lions, Kingfisher.

That jumped out at me too.

If it's anything like prior lists, it's because the votes were such that neither title would have made the list on its own.

That makes some sense. I don't expect any of the various Hellboy or BPRD titles from 2008 to make it to the top of this kind of list just because I think they are better than most comics but I'd hate to see none of them on there. Still, BPRD: The Warning written by Mignola/Arcudi and drawn by Guy Davis is a pretty different animal from BPRD: 1946 written by Mignola/Dysart and drawn by Azaceta is a pretty different animal from Hellboy: The Crooked Man written by Mignola and drawn by Richard Corben is a pretty different animal from Hellboy: In The Chapel of Moloch written and drawn in glorious fashion by Mike Mignola, etc.
