Spider-Girl in front of Captain America?
Bwah-ah-ah-ah!
This is one of the worst lists I've ever seen. I say that without exaggeration.
Amazing Spider-Girl, a book that treats its readers like idiots by over explaining everything that happened in the past 20 issues through a monthly internal monologue by May, and treated May herself like a mentally abused housewife by having her go back to her boyfriend for 20 issues, is above Captain America and Nova?
Those are two of the best comics on the shelves. They shouldn't even be as low as they are, let alone below Amazing Spider-Girl.
It's also above Iron Fist, Echo, The Walking Dead, and Astonishing X-Men?
What.
Sometimes this list makes me sad that I haven't picked up more books. Often times, it makes me sad that they still make comics.
- Art is whatever makes you feel human.
- "You are what you love, not what loves you." - Donald Kaufman
- "Deserve's got nothing to do with it." - William Munny
- "Acquiescence. It's not so hard, really. You. Just. Give. In." - Col. Ives
Captain America should be in the top 10. IMHO, it is number one but I know others wouldn't agree.
This is clearly just a shock value list. The author just wants to say "Look! All these comics that you have never heard of are waaaaaaay better than the ones everyone likes!" It s just a comic snob saying people should only read cool indie comics and indie comics that become popular, like Walking Dead, are passe.
You guys are way too dependent on external validation.
Not sure what you mean by "that."
I didn't even know CBR had staff writers until the first of these list posts, so it wouldn't be at all healthy for me to get upset at these random strangers having different opinions than my own.
Although really, it's too soon to tell how different their opinions are.
Regardless, you can't spend much time in a community this size and expect everyone to always agree on a title. Especially when everyone is attracted to different things. Hell, Marvel vs DC alone. It's too subjective.
Like Gary said, these lists are great to skim for titles that you hadn't already heard of and that may sound interesting. But I already know what I personally liked. And it's not as if they're going to wrap up the countdown by saying "And Kristen, on the other hand, read nothing but crap books all year."
Captain America in the 70s? Seriously? With Punisher: War Journal and Spider-Girl in front of it? I can't think of the word to describe how I feel about this but I know it's not a good one.
