Default CBR: At Last: Batman Vs. King Tut

Batman villain King Tut could have won a Grammy buried in his jammies, but
instead he will be making his DC Universe debut come February in “Batman
Confidential” #26. We spoke with writers Christina Weir & Nunzio DeFilippis
    about the book

I think I'll try this arc, I have enjoyed all their work on checkmate with grey rucka. They make a good writing team do weir and defillipas.

The art has it sold for me too.

    Kinf tut.

    tut tut!

Hey DC, I have a great idea for bringing Adam West Batman Villain "Shame" into the DC Universe; shoot me a private message. :)

And when DC is going to introduce this guy:

Paradox: "We're comic geeks. The word "shame" lost its meaning long ago".

Blade: [noticing vampire tattoo] You're human.
    Kounen: Barely. I'm a lawyer.

Patton: Now I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.

Thanks! I'm definitely interested. I dig Egyptology, and Garcia-Lopez is a joy!

Just as an aside, Victor Buono's King Tut did appear in KINGDOM COME. Alex Ross painted the villain's face in one panel at the Planet Krypton restaurant. Tut appeared either as a portrait on display or on a TV screen. Maybe the image is still displayed on Earth-22, even. Anyway, at the time I was quite glad to discover that Tut had been unearthed by DC for a cameo.

Since Victor Buono was also a MAN FROM ATLANTIS villain, at least Marvel Comics got to use the big guy in a cover scene. What a coup!

    - A few tv villains were mentioned in a Riddler comic book origin story (Secret Origins Special #1 - a one-shot from 1989 that also featured Penguin & Two-Face) written by Neil Gaiman, no less. Quote Riddler in the story, "We hung out together, down at the 'What A Way to Go-Go.' It was great! And there were all these guys you never see anymore ... Bookworm. King Tut. Marsha, Queen of Diamonds. Egghead (woohoo!). *sigh* Where did they all go? Batman and Robin were part of the fun. They were straight men, but we were the stars. No one ever hurt anybody. Not Really. Nobody died. You look around these days -- it's all different. It's all changed. The Joker's killing people for God's sake! Did I miss something? Was I away when they changed the rules?"

While those 4 other villains are mentioned, none of them appear in the story....
Seems in keeping with Morrison's current views on Bat-history. Wonder if Gaiman will touch on this TV theme again in WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE CAPED CRUSADER? At the wake of Lord Morpheus in SANDMAN, Supes (Clark) and Bats were sorta supposed to have memories in their dreams of once having had television shows, and the poor Martian Manhunter felt left out.

It was always a dream writing gag of mine to introduce Egghead and King Tut into Bat continuity, so I'm pleased to see one of them finally happening. Of course, it's Batman Confidential, so we'll probably never see him again after this.

I'm still hoping that, one of these days, we'll get Max Schrek from Batman Returns as the Luthor of Gotham City.

I'd actually have preferred Tut in a "real" main-continuity Bat book sooner than in Confidential. It could be done. I swear! In fact, have Hawkman team up with Bats in a multi-issue arc against Tut.

Whether or not Tut is actually a reincarnation of the original Tut doesn't even have to be an issue. All you have to do is have Tut get a hold of some old magic, and take it from there. Whether he's the delusional Egyptologist who keeps getting head injuries, or actually the real thing, matters not as long as he's got some serious magic on his side to cause trouble with.
