To be fair to him, he was drenched in blood from the wounds he took fighting her father, and seemed to be putting notable effort into dodging her Berserk Master-level attacks. He might have had the juice left to take her down non-lethally (assuming she's dead and Kensei isn't hinding in the forest making statues because he got his ass beat by a pregnant lady).

OTOH, his fight against Kenichi shows that he's more than willing to kill a harmless fighter if they refuse to stand down when he tells them to.

All I'm saying is don't confuse a little nuance and a shred of humanity with actually having redeeming qualities. Just because someone isn't as psycho as Junazard doesn't mean they're not evil.

I said "Not just straight evil,"

That doesn't mean that I think he's /not/ evil. Kensei is quite clearly evil and somewhat insane. My comment was more that I find his motivation and justification for his actions believable. He has morals, twisted and cruel as they are, and they kind of make a Darwinian kind of sense.

Since you bring up Jenazard, Kensei feels more real than him because I get why he acts how he does. Jenazard was just a trollish extreme version of Kensei's ideals and felt almost cartoonish in execution.

No, that's exactly what they are; qualities that make it possible to like the character a bit instead of just wanting him to die.

Evil =/= Irredeemable.
