OK, I just got finished watching the first episode of this show on Teletoon up here in Canada. WOW. I am just--- WOW. I can't really find the words to describe just what this.... THING... is. I figure I am WAY outside the target audience for this series. Guess its good to get a new generation of kids interested in DC characters, and have a Batman for kids too young to see the Dark Knight.

Still, this is just... holy cow. Sorry, but I was brought up on Batman the Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited, so its kinda hard for me to come down to the "Adam West" levels.

Saw the premiere last night and it wasn't all that great. Seemed like Batman was just a side dish and the focus was on the Blue Beetle most of the time. I'm sure other episodes will be just like this featuring a different character every week. No substance to the stories or characters at all. I know its supposed to be aimed at young kids but still when they we're making Justice League there was so much more depth. Even something like Transformers Energon had more depth than this show. Its just typical of whatever airs on Cartoon Network these days has too much sassy humor and just uses it as a substitute for good action or a compelling story. The jokes aren't all that funny. A show like Megas XLR was funny and cool. This show isn't even in the same class and seems more like other recent DC offerings like Legion of Superheroes or The Batman, only the latter was much darker despite the horrible animation.

CN seems to be a shadow of its former self too. Most of their new shows just miss the mark with the overdosing on bad humor (Secret Saturdays, Brave and the Bold, Transformers Animated) or unnecessary recycling of material that doesn't need to be revisited so soon (Star Wars Clone Wars).

I like this show. I know it isn't the Dark Knight, but still it is something new. Batman is a great hero that build up other heroes like Blue Beetle, Plastic man, etc.
I like the Dick Sprang animation. This truly reminds me of the 40's and 50's. Bring on more of the Brave and Bold. I saw Guy Gardner in the credits and i cannot wait to see him and the other heroes.

    Hello all.

I kinda like seeing superheroes in animation. I don't know what to make of it yet. It's kid friendly of course, but it's like having a kid friendly Punisher cartoon.

I completely forgot the episode was on. Does anyone know of anywhere I can watch it. Does Cartoon Network ever put its stuff online? Or when are they bound to replay it?

I watched it this morning and it was great fun.

Like a DIck Sprang Batman comic come to life.

    I highly recommend it.

I tried to watch it but it just lost my interest after about 10 minutes. Just a little to "kiddie" for me I think. I will come back if Guy Gardner does appear since they showed him in the opening montage.

Oh, so it's a show? All this time I thought it was a movie. Anyway, didn't know it was on so I missed it, but going from that clip in the article and the other comments here, I can only assume this has a younger audience in mind than say JLU or B:TAS. That's a shame, I've been wanting to watch a "mature," or at least "thoughtful," cartoon for awhile now (since about JLU and Avatar finished up) and I thought this might be it. I guess I could've guessed the old school character designs would've meant a "lighter fare," but I thought it was going to be in the vein of like The New Frontier. Oh well, I'll make a final decision once I actually watch an episode. For all I know, it could at least be a fun diversion, if not all that thought-provoking.

Terrible. Just terrible. I hate it when studios aim 'dumb and stupid' when they're targeting kids. There's a reason Batman:TAS and JLA has such a rabid following -- it didn't talk down to the audience. I hope this thing tanks so hard they'll wake up and stop doing this kind of crap.

I love how people seem to forget that Batman started off goofy and crazy.

On one hand I love the Golden and Silver Age DC Comics. I think the animation in these clips is GREAT.

On the other hand...where the heck does this fit in with the image DC has built for Batman over the past 20 years? This does not tie in to the GIGANTIC audience for Dark Knight, nor the huge cult that followed the 90s 'Animated Series'.

I do like what I see, I just wish it wasn't called 'Batman'. It sort of lends credence to the idea that super-heroes haven't really evolved since their World War II beginnings.

Which Batman are you talking about?

I kinda like the fact it may appeal to a younger audience but hate the fact it doesn't relate very well to any other Batman product out there, and that's the first thing people will look for if this has the desired marketing effect WB is no doubt hoping for.

The style and animation IS fun but the design and the overall feel I think is something comics (specifically Batman related ones) has been trying to get away from.

When Batman started out, he threw people off buildings and shot people.

... I suppose someone could find that goofy and crazy.

That being said, this is definitely a different take on Batman than I'm used to. It's a valid take on him, appropriate for kids, but nothing I'm all that interested in.

Because it was aimed at kids and isn't dark and as serious does not make it 'dumb and stupid'.

Dark and cynical, despite what some may think, does not automatically elevate storytelling to a higher level of quality.

I hope this does well. There is plenty of room for different interpretations of Batman. This is just one of many. And it certainly will not be the last.
