As revealed over at Newsarama today, Judd Winick is not writing Battle for the Cowl.

    ......Tony Daniel is!

You read wrong. Tony Daniel is drawing and writing an ORACLE mini.

Winnick is probably still doing Battle for the Cowl.

We’re still locking down the writer on the Oracle miniseries, but Battle for the Cowl will be written and drawn by Tony Daniel, which we’re very excited about.
It appears to be Battle for the Cowl he's doing...

This could explain why Batman #681 has been delayed...

Batman 681 is also 35 pages as I recall.

Thank god the bat event of 09 is NOT being written by Judd Winick. I haven't read anything by Tony yet but his art on the bat-books has been solid and I'm willing to give his writing a chance, whereas Winick is an automatic pass for me.

He wrote some creator-owned stuff years ago. The Tenth and F5 are the ones I remember. I read an issue or two of F5, but I don't recall being bowled over by the amazing writing.

Look at the tremendous success guys named George Perez, John Byrne, Jim Starlin, Mike Grell, and Frank Miller had when they started writing as well as drawing.

On the other hand you have McFarlane, Liefield, Lee, Portacio.......(although Silvestri and Larson ended up not too badly).

Yeah those were the books. Can't remember being bowled over by the writing. Hope he's improved.

By the way...I was enthused when I read that Rucka would be returning to a Batman title. He's one of my 3 favourite Batman writers. However I'm guessing that when he does, he'll be writing Batwoman. It would be nice to see him write Huntress again.

I too would like to see him write Huntress again but yeah I think you're right, he'll be writing Batwoman.

At least Rucka will be writing some Huntress in the next two FC: Revalations. I can get my Rucka-Huntess fix there for now.

Heck, I had no idea! I'll have to keep my eyes out for them.

Personally, I can't wait to see if Daniel's writing skills are as great as his art skills. It's been a long time since I've seen someone handle both duties on a book. Of course, quality is another matter, but I'm going to try to stay hopeful about it.

As a side note, I had no idea Tony Daniels worked on various titles for Image and Marvel before working on Batman. And here I thought he was an up and coming artist who just landed an amazing gig. Shows how much I know. I should've checked Wikipedia first...

Really? Sweet. I'll be on the look-out for those issues, then.

This is awful. The delays on Battle for the Cowl are going to be ridiculous...

I had no idea Tony Daniel was even a writer.

This is a pretty huge event (atleast it sounds like one) to be handing him, what has he written?
I'm beginning to think that Hell is a comic book forum.
